To me, the question is, can he actually coach at a championship level? Butch did some recruiting and turning around here, and he won bigger than Taggart in his previous stops. The fear with a guy like Taggart, to me, is that hes shown he can take a bad mid-major team and make them good (or at least decent) for a mid-major program. Thats not the job description at Tennessee.
Did McBride look pretty mobile on some of his runs last weekend, or was that just me flipping channels?
Yeah mobile enough better than Q. Has a nice little arm on him too. He might surprise some folks. There was one quick throw to Wolf he made a read on that was small but stood out to me on how quick he read it and got the ball out allowing wolf to pick up a few more yds. His deep ball to Palmer was nice too. A inch too far but probably the only place he could throw it to have a shot outside of defender reach.
Yeah there is something about that kid. He is athletic enough to run the offense too, but Butch won't let him open it up this week
He knows that he has to surround himself with good coaches. He has an excellent staff at Oregon right now. He would assemble another great staff at UT. That combined with his recruiting prowess should get our fan base very excited. Im thinking he would get a top 4 class his first full cycle. We would dominate instate and he would pull a lot of talent out of Florida.Heres my hold up on Taggart and I hope someone with more insight on him can explain to me:
I understand that Taggart is a great recruiter and that is needed to compete in the SEC, but I dont want another salesman I want a real football coach that can win. I can see he has built programs but at those programs even just getting better players helps that win total go up each year. So someone please sell me on his in game coaching/development. Is he more than just a recruiter? Honest question.
Dont sleep on McBride either. He throws the ball well and has good touch. I think hes very capable of moving the ball.
He did, but Butch wouldnt let him run
Palmer throw wasn't an "inch too far" that's only if he lays out for the ball. Palmer should have caught that ball and if he did that second half would've been differentYeah mobile enough better than Q. Has a nice little arm on him too. He might surprise some folks. I don't know man I was shocked they let him throw a deep play action on his 3rd play last wk....I had to rewind to make sure that really happened. Also they have to open up regardless of QB Saturday or have no chance
