If Gruden gets announced, watch for 9 months from that date. Could be a record number of new VOL fans born and half will be named Peyton and the other half will be named Chucky!

Something was brought up several times last night that I have never understood. Why all the hate for Nickleback?

Also.

IMHO, Beaver is best staying silent unless he has something to say. Troll or not.

Did you find his droppings last night to be forced and awkward as well? :)

i live near chattanooga. My family (and sam rayburn's) was in wheat, tn, which was taken over in the creation of oak ridge. So we are scattered mostly around the knoxville area and chattanooga. Mr. Sfd's family is from karns. We try to not delve too deeply. The proximity of our family roots is a little disconcerting. :)

🤔

Grude Morning Grudenville!

I see beaver did a drive by last night. The only surprise I want, Beav, is Gruden on the podium. That's good enough for this old lady.

Stay strong Gruden faithful!

The rest of the forum has gone completely insane. This morning they're on Urban Meyer and Mark Richt.

Can someone explain why every sports writer and sports talk radio host in Knoxville is so scared to say anything anti Butch ? Lets really look at this, I live in Nashville and here thay all say Butch has no chance of coming back and they hear that info from sources around the program and then you get the oppsite from Knoxville. It is almost like they are so fearful of the powers that be they are scared to say what they think or know.

I get the part of UT being the only show in town and job security and all that but when everybody else in the country and I mean everybody is saying Butch is gone are they that scared or what?

If UT keeps Jones for another year we will be the laughing stock of every major sports media outlet in the country and what I think hurts the most is once again we will give the A**WHIPS at ESPN more ammo the use against us and our state.( I remember the "Trailor Park Frenzy" quite well as well as the UCONN Pat dust ups that in large part was perpetuated by them.)

The Haslams time has past and the power players seem to be changing. I can only hope that we can get back to the point when it was fun to watch us play and we had a chance everytime we stepped on the field. It is sad the kids in their early 20's have no idea what huge fun being a VOL fan really is.

its time thistime

It’s actually pretty simple - career management. local media in a market the size of Knoxville are either moving through on their way to a bigger market or settling in to their niche. If it’s the latter, they can’t or don’t want to upset the powers that be at the largest economic and news driver in the market. So they stay “on script”.

Meyer and Richt would be stellar hires IMO, but no way they are leaving their dream jobs and coming here. You don't go from a nicely running ship to this dumpster fire.

That said, I like those posts better than the Houston and Babers ones. Aim high, Vols.

My grandmother is from the wheat community as well. She was a Patton. I remember as a kid going up to the white church on top of the hill for "homecoming" every year. Small world!

Atleast we’d cover with babers (blue font)

Very Cool! Mr. SFD would die if I said my family name on here so I won't. I still go to the reunion each year. My middle daughter was named for my great-uncle who was killed in WWII and he is buried there. She feels like a celebrity at the reunion, so I take her.

Seems like a doom and gloom morning, that needs to be changed.

Very true.
But, management/ownership is also important.
The big boy in Knox WNML, the Sports Animal,is owned by media giant Cumulus and,as the flagship of the Vol Network, sets a tone for their hosts not to stray too far.

The two other sports talk stations in town, WVLZ and WKGN, are privately owned and do not impose such restrictions. Most of their hosts are very anti Butch and don’t make fun of Grudenites.
I pretty much only listen to them right now.
I can’t stand the Butch backing on the Sports Animal right now.

Which is funny. I think there’s a better chance of Gruden coming than Meyer or Richt, but I’m sure we’ll have some trolls come in today with breaking news about how Gruden has never coached in college or won a super bowl with someone else’s players
