Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIX

We've definitely started the downhill portion of the daily rollercoaster. The high was fun while it lasted.

Like clockwork, this board will find its second wind. Give the Xanax and the cauldron of nuggets time to brew. By 5PM, it'll be popping harder than a 12 year old with dirty magazine in his lap.

You'd think people could be self-reflective enough to see they do this to themselves everyday. It's part of the local sports news cycle. Most of the information the radio guys report on has been two to three weeks old...pretty consistently.

Understand the controlled narrative being played here.

I can almost set my watch by it. Let it play out, nothing we can do about it in the grand scheme. If he's coming, he probably can't come until after MNF is over.

The thing that's worrisome to be is that if Gruden has to be courted and convinced to take the job, doe he really want it? I would think if he was "all in" then all these seemingly small potatoes type things wouldn't matter if he really wanted to be coach at UT. If we land him, I hope he heart is truly in it and it isn't just about money, control, etc...

Have you ever been in negotiations?

Basilio also saying that Jones is trying to rally support from Boosters for the 2018 season.

If any booster even entertained this garbage that booster(s) should be tarred and feathered. Are our Big $$$ Boosters and Ath Dept this inept?

Since when have we believed Basilio? Botch rallying support from big money boosters is laughable.

I get where you are coming from. I am one of the worst offenders. I'm up, I'm down.

As long as the AD continues to let the fanbase subsist on only rumors and speculation, then I personally will not be able to commit fully to belief in anything positive.
You don't have to believe the Gruden stuff....that's understandable. Just realize that nothing coming out is what it appears, and be self-aware enough to recognize the big (temporary) swings when they are happening. Nobody should be so invested in this as to effect their personal emotional state.

The lack of action to fire Butch should be an obvious sign that something is going on behind the scenes. Mays decommitting is another 3 ft of rope Currie is releasing to let Butch hang himself.

I think you are giving Currie too much credit. Especially where none is deserved. His lack of action and his total silence makes me think he is inept. Our best recruit just decomitted bc UT is a laughing stock right now And in Cade Mays own words on twitter 'mediocre' .

He hasn’t recruited in a month. Think about it. Recruits are being told to hold off on visits. Why would that be happening if he was back? Oh and where does Hubbs get his info? Exactly. This is Currie and company with their fingers in the dam trying to Kee it together.

I may be completely wrong so please correct my thought on this if necessary. If you had to choose between the two scenarios wouldn't B make the most sense, which is not what UT is doing.

A. Keep the coach even though you intend to fire him after the last game regardless of record. Do not actively recruit in the interim for several weeks. Scramble to assemble an early signing class after the coach is let go after Vandy. Waste time not actively recruiting and sitting on your hands while Georgia/Clemson/Anybody is still out there recruiting.

B. Remove the coach now since it's already been decided he is gone at the end of the season. Have several weeks to try to retain a recruiting class by showing that you are in the process of making a change and that we are swinging for the fences this time. At least act like you are doing something and release some type of statement, or anything that indicates you care about making the situation better moving forward.

"I'm telling you this guy is not fired yet because these guys are that stupid"....Tony B.
How can he fire himself lol. He buys his own time on air like Swain and local advertisers pay them and Tony gets... Tony also gets extra help from listeners time to time as well with tips.

I really really hope Mays doesn't go to UGA. It's one thing for him to not play for UT, but playing against us for 3-4 would hurt like heck as CPF would say. I'd rather him go to Clemson instead of UGA or Bama. He has been tweeting a lot about UGA lately though... and the do have one of the best offensive line coaches in the game. This sucks.
he likes pitman but Clemsin would be the worry

Disinformation in my opinion. It’s obvious jones doesn’t even wanna come back, especially with those in the know saying he was actively looking to get out last year.

Guys need to chill.

Butch still having a job here doesn't line up with any evidence we have so far. Recruiting at a standstill. If he were in play to be our coach next year, he would be recruiting.

Shoops comments about "we all know what's going on". Shoops doesn't make that comment if there wasn't something else happening.

Butch will be gone by the SEC championship.

I know it's not safe to jump off a moving roller coaster, but I'm doing it. See you guys later this afternoon, when the negativity and overreaction has subsided.

Bottom line is Currie is either a genius or a moron.

We will find out soon...

The 2 that I know have said no they will not support him. That is what they have relayed to him. They give quite a bit as well.

Have them shoot Basilio and Hubbs an anonymous email. Tired of hearing this garbage and being a laughing stock.

The Tennessee ship is being guided by a “drunk captain”. And I don’t mean by literally intoxicated by alcohol . A drunk captain isn’t capable of leading the ship and if left in charge my find itself grounded on shallow rocks. A drunk captain doesn’t know how to lead. He simply allows the crew and ship to remain in shambles.

Per Ainge and his co-stooge this is all the fans fault. We're mean on twitter and recruits don't like it.

CBJ wanted out last year nothing about this year even resembles a good situation for him to return to. I believe any opportunity for CBJ to return ended with the loss to UGA. That doesn’t mean the AD won’t screw up his replacement
