After the Haslam stuff from MIT, I no longer think he's being truthful. Haslam was okay with the JG hire in 2012, even giving his resources to try and make it happen. Haslam and JG are actually friends. Peyton and Haslam are friends. Haslam has spent literally 9 figures at UT. Played for Neyland and wants the best for UT football. It makes absolutely 0 sense that he'd oppose this.
I want Gruden and he's my top choice by far, but this reeks of JG having said thanks but no thanks to coaching here several weeks ago and someone using it to drive ill feelings towards the Haslam family.
As a Cowboy fan, this sounds about like 1996-2014 with Jerry Jones! :cray:Some wonder why Haslam would favor having control over the success of the football team. They point to the Browns. "What? Does he want us to be the Browns"? Thing is i'm sure in HIS mind...the Browns are fine. They aren't the dumpster fire everyone thinks they are. Just going through a transition period. I'm sure the Haslams feel in their mind that THEY know what's best for UT. That the university is best off under THEIR influence and control. We could tell him for hours on end how bad their crappy Browns team is...or how bad UT has been under their influence...but they don't see it that way. They think their way is best...even though we're down now...THEY (Haslams) want UT back as a national power...but they are the ones to eventually get us back to that. Imo.
Don't think he is that deep since the Fulmer days.
But Larry and others say theres no power struggle. Were all just pulling together. Dont want to fire the coach cause itll look bad. 🙄
