"The ONLY reason Jones is still here is Haslam wants it that way even while other boosters don't".....Basilio

Only way this is true is if he was the one who pimped Butch the first go around. If that's the case then he doesn't want to admit he was wrong. I still can't believe anyone would be this stupid...even if it meant you had to admit you were wrong.

Weird moment on Sports 180 just now... Josh and Will’s mikes were left on during commercial and you could hear them talking and they referred to “A Leak” and then to “Brett Kendrick’s Dad” and then after commercial a weird dead air for a couple minutes...

Interesting

Haslam has controlled the AD for some time (see 2012 & Currie hire). The other booster's are tired of it and presented an ultimatum to the school in the form of a new coach/restructured AD or they go home. UT needs their $$ (see Neyland renos, other new buildings). Academic obstructions cleared out by the introduction of VC into the mix. Only obstacle now is Haslam. Only card he has is control of Currie. Ergen led boosters have all the other cards. Turning up the pressure on Haslam bit by bit.

And this folks...
Pretty much answers all of your questions.

Its simple.... Currie needs to suspend butch based on the fact that a players safty was comprised and that it was obvious to the naked eye on Tv that that was the case. If the investigation shows he is innocent... Then he ia back next week. The fact that a players safety is in question is the huge issue and Butch is responsible until proven otherwise

Then how come everybody wasn't screaming it after the game? If everybody watching saw it happening, why didn't anybody say anything?

its the only acceptable explanation for keeping butch through early signing. Having someone in the bag i mean.

surely this isn't the case. thru early signing day? i can't imagine he's here much past the weekend of Vandy (sun, mon).

i'm not arguing with you, i'm just ... i don't know what to say if the AD keeps him that long.

i know, gruden's mnf christmas last game thing, but still i just can't see it.

We’ve all been wondering why THIS time is different like people are saying. The “these guys don’t miss” sentiment is hard to reconcile with the “all they do is miss” history.

Ergen increasing involvement would explain a lot. The only arm strong enough to move the long standing gridlock of small time power plays by those that have screwed us for so long.

If he’s getting actively involved beyond just donating, that’s a game changer.

I officially move my grudometer from 20 to 25%.

Who has had complete control of the football program for as long as anyone can remember?

Who will have complete control if Gruden gets the position??

I am currently enjoying and cringing as the XM College Sports channel keeps cutting into the reporter in John Currie's office listening to him sing "I've got a golden ticket"

I'm sorry, you can explain what both you and MIT mean here? I think I missed a step somewhere.

I can guess what MIT means. I will tell you what I meant.

I think MIT's nugget means that Ergen is heading up the coalition of boosters who are not only attempting to get Gruden to the Hill, but also to reduce or shift the balance of booster power away from the Haslams.

One of the very first questions I asked right after MIT came on this board, was about something he said about specific unidentified boosters who were at odds with Currie, but were working to ensure that Gruden came to UT. I asked MIT at that point to identify who the leading booster was. He didn't respond. He appears with this latest nugget to have identified Ergen as the Guy.

Which makes sense, he represents a younger generation of money than Big Jim, and he absolutely has the money to go head to head in a power struggle, if he has to.

This hasn't all been about getting Gruden here. There have always been multiple agendas. Anyone who has read MIT carefully could see that. And I'm not saying multiple agendas are bad, just that we should be aware that they exist, and MIT isn't just here to give everyone their dose of internet Xanex. :)

Maybe buying a 3.3 million dollar home from a reluctant booster would go a long way to getting that booster on board with the rest of the players?
