Jon Gruden's name will be mentioned for college jobs, but Dan Wolken isn't sure he'd be a good college coach. gridironnow.com/jon-gruden-no-…

From the Beav:

"You guys want another nugget? When Jones is fired and our rival SEC schools get wind of who is coming to Coach our team then expect a wave of articles/posters saying Gruden will not be a successful college coach. Why? We are now big time competition and there will be a battle for recruits."

So you come in this thread continually saying people are fos.....then on top of that saying it isn't a personal attack, and now you are saying there cant be decent conversation because everyone is telling you to gtfo. That's a bold strategy

Let's see how it works out for him Cotton.

Well, with all due respect, the amateurs seem to have won in 2012, because we got Butch instead of Gruden. I hope the professionals win this time around, because I’m tired of mediocrity.

As many have recently stated, this is the reason “professionals” are involved. They’ve been plotting this for 5 years

Tennessee Athletics and its mediocre programs for the most part is getting old and I am about done being a follower of this mess. I do not understand why we can't get competent people in there to do their job. From the top down. It is embarrassing.

Why has the defense been so bad? Injuries haven't helped, but there should be enough depth on hand to help from that perspective.

Three reasons, IMO:
(1) Persisting on starting Jumper @ MLB
(2) They have to stay on the field too long because the offense can't sustain drives.
(3) They don't cause enough turnovers

That was because offensive line coach Walt Wells, who multiple sources believe had to know Kendrick was concussed, repeatedly exhorted Kendrick, “We need you to go!” and pointed out that Kendrick’s back up had not made the trip to Lexington.

Bolded is the issue. Additionally, if it was so obvious to everyone, how did the medical staff not notice. They are paid to catch this stuff, making the coaches less responsible. Its a nasty situation, but for now its one I'm reserving judgment on.

I'm not a fan of knee jerk reactions. If this was a coach we loved, we'd all be here blaming the medical staff for not stepping in, trying to protect our coach.

If it is reasonable for the argument to go both ways, its far from decided.

We've HAD a battle for recruits. Recruiting seemingly wasn't Butch's weak point (until now, obviously).

I think we got the wrong co-defensive coordinator. I'm prolly wrong but I think shoop ANDN pry were with franklin at vandy and penn st.

I have been away since this morning (some of us do have to pay the bills). It appears I have missed nothing other than the normal after melt down. Am I wrong? If so, please give me the cliff notes version. I don't have time to skim through a bazillion name calling messages.

Thank goodness. That's when my vacation starts! That means I won't be hiding in bathrooms in Disney world trying to figure out what's going on!

I hear ya!! My Disney vacation starts Dec 13, so hoping we are smooth sailing by then, and Gruden is pulling in all the elite recruits.

I didn't answer the question cause I don't see how it's relevant to the situation I was asking about which is the whole Butch being fired/concussion issue/back lash.

If I were to say I wanted Gruden here would that change your stance on my questions?

Those are two complete separate issues. I can want Gruden here but I can still have questions about the other situations at hand.

Not trying to be standoffish or anything, just don't see how that has anything to do with my questions

good enough.
answered any questions i had.

I can't stand that guy...Wardaddy. I don't disagree with some of what he says, but not a good rep for Tennessee fans, imo.

the people that rep us in a positive way have gone dark. Peyton, Fulmer, Majors where are our heros? We are drowning over here! Seriously though its becoming infuriating.

I don't know jack about copters, but I always imagined that the pick up would be the most nerve wracking part of the job. Based wholly on Vietnam film / movies of course! Just seems super intense trying to get our guys out while possibly taking fire.

Glad you fly for the good guys. Tough job.

Nowadays that baby is secure..fast movers or AWACS (now everyone google) overhead. Security on the ground. Heck even the Pickup Zone is usually marked with infrared laser or strobe.
