Butch and the other coaches are overall responsible for anything that happens regarding the athletes. You don’t think at some point Wells or any other coach couldn’t tell that Kendrick’s was having problems? Read the last part of Curries release one more time:

"We have a constant and consistently communicated expectation that all coaches, staff and student-athletes remain attentive to ensure that any potential injuries are appropriately addressed-with full intentions that student-athlete safety is never compromised."

The medical staff is ultimately to blame, not denying that. But this still ultimately can be put on Butch Jones and the staff. I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if Currie used this as for cause for Butch to give up a good chunk of the buyout.

Based on what we know right now I would be very surprised because every candidate he courts as a replacement is going to have to think twice about working for him. jmo.

IDT UT is looking to fire CBJ with cause. Nobody wants this to get any uglier or messier than it already is.

Now that it’s official on kendrick it’s time to fire butch. How, knowing all that we know about brain injuries and football, do you not pull the guy off the field? There is video of him stumbling around and looking lost. On top of that he complained that he was dizzy and throwing up? Just sickening to know this staff allowed/forced him to stay in.

Jones and the medical staff endangered BK’s health and life by playing him with a concussion. Head injuries are nothing to mess around with. Gotta get him out of here ASAP.

Things a medical staff should see

The coach has an obligation to notify medical staff if they notice something unusual. If you don't recognize that then there's really no reason to continue. Also, having independent medical staff doesn't relinquish his obligation to protect the long term welfare of his players.

I'm reaching? OK.

I think it's highly unlikely that someone at least his position coach didn't notice something amiss if he was staggering around and throwing up on the sidelines. But hey I guess that's me.

He did not puke until the final seconds of the game. Did the coaches have a time machine?

Just read through this story, didn't see concussion mentioned once.

This was the part I considered relevant:

The university fired Beckman on Friday for mishandling athletes' injuries, including instances in which he allegedly encouraged hurt players to avoid medical treatment in order to keep playing.

...

"This decision was based on the health and well-being of our student-athletes," Thomas said at a news conference in Champaign. "The findings don't reflect the culture we are building with Illinois athletics."

You may be right, it may not be about concussions, I just remember this being reported a couple of years ago and thought it was relevant. I don't have to be right all the time. I just thought it was applicable. Precedent for removing a coach that isn't fulfilling the mission of caring for the health and welfare of the players.

Post like this are the reason this is such bs. Butch isn't a great coach but when bs reports question his integrity it is unfortunate

That's fair. It would have to be deliberate and calculated, and I just don't see the evidence for that.

Yep. I don't see it either at this point.

But if Im Currie, Im flipping every stone in Knox Co. to make sure I have all the facts on this.

Ya not a good look to beat your soon to be ex girlfriend while wooing a new one.

On this I agree. For the the facts that are currently reported.

I know some former players (not his) that don't think much of his integrity in some other situations however.

I get your connection however concussions are handled with an independent official outside the realm of the coaching staff. Therefore it is very hard to pin missing a concussion on the coach. With all his shortcomings I do not see CBJ deliberately doing that.

I'm sure we will have cheerleaders come forward with sexual assault allegations tomorrow.

You expect the guy who coaches a team to zero touchdowns in almost 4 full games, then says there is nothing to change on offense, to notice something unusual about a player on offense?

BS reports? Jimmy Hyams is about as trusted as anyone in Knoxville.

Also you’re saying that a man of integrity would put a kid’s life in danger for a football game? Because that’s what you’re dealing with when it comes to brain injuries. Kendrick was seriously hurt. Concussions take weeks to truly recover from. Butch was willing to throw him right back into the fire. That’s disgraceful and I don’t want someone like that leading ANY football program.

I don't disagree. It is weird that this kind of thing happened before (Hurd) and his injury was described as a "lower extremity" injury, if I'm not mistaken... Just weird handling of all injury related information.

This is a good time to stat check some of these busters who spread garbage about the program.

Kress, Vol Colonel, Boro

I’ve heard from a unnamed source that all of them assisted Harvey Weinstein rape and molest people throughout the country. I suppose I should take to Twitter and make it known to all.

Please go back and read the last few pages.

JimmyH isn't saying Butch had anything to do with playing a concussed player

Just a reminder of how incredible it is that Chip Kelly is not coaching, we have an offense built for Chip Kelly’s type of play calling, we are about to fire and hire a coach, and not a single Chip Kelly will be contacted most likely

Phenomenal

He’s a cheater with no personality. He’ll settle for a lesser program and try to build himself back up.
