I would guess though that "for cause" would actually translate into back to the table for a further reduced buyout. Quicker resolution to create more certainty in the long term.

one telling thing from that quote to me, was they kept talking about expectations but never said they were actually followed....

While true, if you give too many details or specifics you can walk yourself into something you can’t get out of. Best to make statements that are general, vague, but verifiable.

Edit: we’re spinning off into orbit here. We have a couple paragraphs. I’ve just stated that my read is that is not a statement you make if you’re firing someone but it might not even be related. The request from Hubbs for an official statement could have just asked for something so specific as for the university to describe the concussion protocol. That would be wholly consistent with the two paragraphs we’re given.

I believe the Glazer family still owns the Bucs. If so, I do not see this happening. They bought MANU went cheap on the Bucs (did not resign the core of the team, no good free agents, etc) and left CJG hanging. This is the only blemish on his coaching resume. I do not think he would entertain walking back into that situation again.

Just the thoughts of someone who followed the Bucs closely during his time there.

Gruden has 10 million on the table boys, no decision has been made yet. It is all dependent on him getting a couple more things that he wants. This is not just for his Ego like many say. He will coach here or in the NFL next year. He will not talk to any other college.

Nice first post. Now tell us who you are and how you know this, since it's been publicly reported we offered $10MM.

This and the post above about the Bucs is why I thought the comments from the ESPN segment yesterday was Interesting.

Too much information to go into it, and to be honest, I'm not sure it means anything. I just found it interesting.

It's no secret the Buc fans really want Gruden. Nothing was said about the Bucs yesterday in that segment, until one of the guys said "I'd rather Gruden go to Tennessee than the Bucs", out of nowhere.

Lot of stuff being pieced together in this thread. Sometimes little things get dismissed because... well, for many reasons.

Lot of "politics" seems to be involved in all of this. That's interesting too.

Technology is allowing people to communicate in ways never before imagined...
ie: Anyone with knowledge and an Internet connection is becoming the media.
(see downfall of ESPN)

Agree completely. Which is what baffles me with people who constantly call out people who know people. People in the know won’t look like they did 20+ years ago. You may not get info out of s billionaire booster but I bet you could from his nephew/son/friend who’s a scratch golfer and loves the Vols. 😎

STATEMENT FROM TENNESSEE VICE CHANCELLOR/DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS JOHN CURRIE

"The health and safety of our student-athletes is our number one responsibility. Our sports medicine staff and team medical personnel have full autonomy and unquestioned authority during all team activities, including the ability to remove a player from competition and 'return to play' decisions. At all football games, the Southeastern Conference has a trained independent medical observer present who also has full authority to stop play and remove a student-athlete from competition for assessment and/or treatment.

"We have a constant and consistently communicated expectation that all coaches, staff and student-athletes remain attentive to ensure that any potential injuries are appropriately addressed-with full intentions that student-athlete safety is never compromised."

Cliff Notes: If any wrong doing comes to light, the medical staff and/or coaching staff will be held accountable and the UTAD is confident that it's azz is sufficiently covered.

2nd time I'm asking for prayers. Preacher, you're up..in the waiting room at the hospital while the Mrs. is having a small biopsy done (think pink ribbon) to verify it isn't cancerous. It's precautionary and we were told not to worry but there is power in prayer.

prayers for Mrs Hawk.

Looking forward to what the mid day roller coaster brings. I'll clear my schedule for 3-4 o'clock.

The Beav came in last night and confirmed that the vc's interest is to funnel research opportunities to the university. It is an invaluable resource to the academic side. Presumably this is to counter balance "perceived or realized inefficiencies suffered" from the deal.

This message is spreading....on VQ this morning.....

After Cut left (the second time), Fulmer made a bad decision in hiring Clawson as OC. He went against his own judgment and hired an outsider based up on all of the external complaints of "we need new blood" and that led to his downfall.

I disagree, not that it was a bad decision, but with the timing of the downfall. It was slow and inconspicuously subtle, but it started long before Clawson was hired. The decisions that led to the '08 nuclear winter were only compounded by the destruction left in the wake of the fallout (e.g. fickle fans, inept AD, and complacency.
