This might sound stupid but if it's not Gruden I want someone to unite the fan base again. I know we aren't ever going to hire someone that 100% of the fan base agrees on. But I feel since the Fulmer firing we have been a fairly divided fan base.

If Nebraska scoops us on Frost, Florida and Tennessee are going to be scrambling like their butts are on fire to see who is going to be relevant for the next 5 years. Pickings are going to slimmer and riskier

If Frost goes to Neb, then we were not ever going to get him anyway.

I could see Florida going big if we do get Gruden and it becomes apparent Frost is headed to Nebraska.

My next choice if we didn't get Gruden would be John Harbaugh. I could also see Florida making a strong play for Chip Kelly.

The trick here may be for us and Nebraska to get our deals done "informally" and run out the clock on Florida so they end up making a less than spectacular hire because they, in our case, won't know who we're going to get.

Yup...both my parents work for the University....my dad thought his job was going to get outsourced and he is able to retire in 8 months...he was sweating it...but found out today that it's not. So that's great.

If Nebraska is willing to do whatever it takes to get Frost then it won’t matter what Tennessee and Florida are willing to offer IMO.

I think we are in such a bad place that we should be willing to over spend to make sure we get a winner. We aren’t just hiring a coach this time. We are trying to stop the bleeding that has happened for over a decade. We’ve missed an entire generation of kids who should have grown up watching Tennessee football be great. The fan base is disenfranchised, our chief rival is on a legendary run, we are bottom feeders during an era of football with the most national exposure. We can not miss this hire. Especially if Florida hires someone like Taggart, Frost, etc.

That’s why I think we have to get one of the candidates with the least risk to say yes even if it means you over pay. Gruden, Patterson, etc. Guys who will win big and also change the narrative. In a way I feel like we are hiring a coach and paying for a narrative change.

This is why so many people bought into Butch. His recruiting was lights out. Jalen Hurd was absolutely huge and I want to say he committed in March or April of 2013. That really got the ball rolling.

You guys need to listen carefully... What I know is, Riley is gone after this season. Moos' interviews are little clues for you guys. Does he need to spell it out for you? I can confidently say, not one of you are as close to this situation as I am. You guys have to let Riley finish his career before be retires and stop worrying Scott Frost is going to Florida, or Tennessee or UCLA or any Power 5 school for that matter. You have to be aware and acknowledge, there ARE those of us who ARE close to former players, coaches, and also the current AD that roam this board.

That was huge for him. I also think “can he recruit” is the most over blown question on here. I think any diligent and competent coach can get top shelf talent to the Hill. Tennessee recruits itself.

Agreed but I think most recruits can easily be sold that we will win if you come. Kids certainly haven’t been heading to The Hill these last 7-8 years because of winning.
