Lets say you're right. How would we know we are pressuring them? The world doesnt see this forum. The media doesnt, and if they do... they dont report it and convey the magnitude of it. If we want to apply pressure and do it in the open for all to see... we need to empty Neyland.

No, the world doesn't read it and the media rarely reports on it. But twitter and this website are the two main reasons why Checker Neyland succeeded. This website can be used as a form of organization, if used correctly and the argument is persuasive enough.

Multiple donations of 8 figures to the AD? I'm not doubting you but that is a very short list. I know one who has done something similar but am by no means friends with him. In fact, I don't care for/like him at all. He's just from my hometown and I ran in the same circles as one of his sons in high school so I've met him a few times. What is your donor saying about the new hire?

Obviously nothing. Wants to talk about trolls and then does what a troll does. Acts as if he's an important person with knowledge and then runs without enlightening us.

It has to come down to both control and a difference in philosophy between the University Admin. and the Athletic Dept., probably throughout the boosters too. We are just not committed. Whatever is going on is huge.

It's a turning point, in my opinion. Whichever direction we end up going, we'll be headed down that path for years, possibly decades, to come.

A lot of these leaks and people like Beaver popping up are, in my opinion, an attempt to place blame on the administration/university if the deal falls through. Thus more pressure for them to accept it. The more fans get behind the movement, the more pressure for them to accept it. The more it's leaked to the press as a deal that's realistic and on the table, the more pressure for them to accept it. And so on and so forth until they are forced to fold.

Yep...You have former players, media, social media, move bettings lines, etc. You attack from multiple angles and they are unable to defend every position.
The fact we took so long to score a TD and continually lose explains Currie's face after games and adds fuel to the fire.

Possibly, we'll see if he comes back. I've never seen him bring info before though so I thought I would ask.

It definitely does but my point is that uniting in something like the #emptyneyland movement first would put enough pressure on the university to make the right hire. We can be really loud if we are organized and together. Look how everyone reacted to Checker Neyland. And that was just people checking a website and wearing one of two colors. Virtually no effort but it was organized and it made an impression on not just the SEC, but all of college football.

Agreed. They (UT) need to see it and feel it ($). A shock and awe campaign. The perfect storm is homecoming.

Yup, I'm not going to read too much into a picture of the guy after a couple of losses. It could just be he was upset after those losses and/or the nature of those losses. But it also might be the look of a man that is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If Neyland is less than 60k Saturday, I think the pressure will begin to reach unbearable levels. Especially if the leaks to the press continue. Those combined are very public forms of pressure (since the private ones don't seem to be working). We just have to get them to that tipping point. I think we're close.

Agreed..I was even quoting 60k earlier. With Butch on the sideline the fans are going to be ugly...I expect a lot of fire Butch chants regardless of the score.

Unfortunately, I think you're right.

Sometimes that is needed.

We have supported this school and team through 3 bad hires and we basically endorsed their poor decisions by filling the stadium and giving them our dollars.

We created this monster.

Now it may take fans punishing them by not supporting their poor decisions anymore to get their attention.

Sometimes the greatest growth only comes from painful experiences.

Read back through the thread. We agree with you.

If none of them want to be “interim coach” then we should strip Hoke of his Assistant Coach title.

Seems kind of pointless.

Fwiw Ive seen on TOS that the opposite is true. Shoop and Hoke fighting over it.

Who knows.

No troll here brother just a fellow VFL.. I can by no means "enlighten" you and I am not sharing to gain status or Ecred.. Could not possibly care any less..

This thing is not advanced as some of us wish it were.. sorry to be the bearer of bad news.. Are the wheels in motion behind the scenes?? yes but there are no master plans.. Football is secondary to Academics period.. I will say this I have heard this man say repeatedly that the problem in Athletics at UT is solely because of the academic side of the admin that DOES NOT CARE..

I have heard that from him for going on a decade.. Also Big Jim Haslam, Mr. Egren, and some of the other MONEY MEN do not have the power that tsome of us think they do

There are places around the country where the power structure within a university lend it self to that type of situation but the politics of it all at UTK right now are not that simple at all

I can make it simple by saying this.. The money is not and has never been the issue.. The resources are there and then some to make UT athletics elite but there are some serious issues a la BOOGER EATER and his successor although they are just the figurehead to the problem

I want to emphasize before I sign off that I agree with you wholeheartedly that the best way to change this all is to hold the powers at be accountable by putting pressure on them by no more monetary support, social media movement..

People like our current chancellor do not understand what college football is about in the south and they really do not care.. They are the problem

Yes, I understand that. Rumours have been coming out of Knoxville for years about this very problem. If you go back to earlier this evening, a supposed insider (I believe him) alluded to this gap possibly being bridged and the academic side being appeased enough to step out of the way and let the deal progress. I hope he is right.

We're on the same page friend.

I fear that he isnt.. Thats just the vibe I have gotten.. I will say this Butch is definitely gone and has been since after USCe.. The reasoning for him remaining de facto interim are over me.. Also I can say that I was told that Gruden has been formally offered the keys to it all for the 2nd time.. That has absolutely already went on but it is apparently unlikely to happen and the reason is not lack of money or a bullheaded booster and apparently not bc of JG.. It is not even John Currie

The BOT meeting isn't the only meeting taking place this week.

Is this a Saban like deal? He was supposedly house shopping.

According to a report from AL.com, the Crimson Tide Foundation paid off Saban's $3.1 million home in January 2013 even though the organization was under no obligation to do so.

Bubba's previous post:
If Gruden accepts the deal we've prepared for him, he'll almost certainly be the highest paid coach in the country (although it wouldn't all be in USD).

You know what the ironic thing is? People with your attitude caused us to be in this pit of mediocrity in the first place. From my experience you can either be an observer or you can be an influencer. You choose to accept the status quo, others are working very hard behind the scenes to change it.

I'm not a scotch drinker. However, you are high on my list of people I would want to drink a beer with. FWIW

Oh I don't think the deal is done by any means, I just think things are being done to try appease the academic side. Another poster who seems to be an insider insinuated that he believes whatever has been done is enough to seal the deal. I would guess this week's BoT meetings will go a long way into determining whether or not this will go any further. It'll be a shame if it doesn't.
