Joined today for my birthday and 55 years of my Tennessee Volunteers. My present to self is to be a Grudenite with my fellow Vols. All IN. Gruden would be Bruce Pearl x10 with it being football.

Its funny how this thread has two seperate topics for the deal is done. One is Butch has been fired and the buyout deal is complete. The second, of course, is that Gruden has been hired and the ink is dry type of the “deal is done”. As I read through all these pages, I have to constantly check who the poster is to keep each of the done deals straight

Well this is truly pathetic. How come Currie is treating Butch with more respect than he did with Fulmer? How come this administration has treated this fan base like complete s*** for the last 10 years? If he trots Butch out there in Saturday I’m gonna lose my f***** mind. This university and program is by far the biggest laughing stock in the whole country. If they trot out another up and comer, I’m done. If Butch is out there Saturday, I truly hope there’s a half empty stadium with more “Fire Currie” signs than “Fire Butch” signs.

Read this last statement carefully:

"Head coach Butch Jones and athletic director John Currie met Sunday to discuss the future of the Tennessee football program, sources told GoVols247 Sunday evening.
Barring any unforeseen developments Sunday night or Monday morning, Jones will coach Tennessee (3-5, 0-5 SEC) this week against Southern Miss (5-3, 3-2 Conference USA), those sources said, but the fifth-year head coach's future beyond Saturday is unknown.

The situation remains fluid, as sources have told GoVols247 that Jones's fate has been decided, with only the timing and the announcement of his firing to be settled.

Looks like a Done Deal to me... We all cool guys.... RELAX, drink some prine juice and it will all be fine in the morning//////
Exactly!! That’s literally confirmation he has been fired. Seems like Butch will be an “interim” while we’re reeling in abig fish, working out numbers or something along those lines.

Of course he does. It’s literally explained in the contract.

Now, if you’re suggesting there’s some other deal that modifies his contract (that remains to be seen, but isn’t impossible) your initial response is interesting in that you were insinuating my understanding of his contractual buyout is incorrect.

Nope. I understand you can read. But it's been modified and both sides are allowed to do so.

You'll understand when it's announced what he's walking away with. It won't match up with your "daily prorated" example you're quoting.

I guess only way to get through to them is NOT showing up vs Southern Miss if Butch is still here. If dumb ass Haslam wants to control things let him pay the bill and watch his Vols with only 50k fans. After years of this Sh!t then maybe Tennessee will wise up as well as AA... I hope. As for Florida they have been only relevant since Spurrier arrival in 90’s but didn’t take them long to learn. They don’t accept mediocrity and neither should we. Currie get your big boy pants on and earn your money. We pay a premium price to watch our Vols at Neyland now get us a premium coach. Billionaire boosters giving, 80 million revenue for now, and booming apparel sales lately. We don’t have to have $300 million renovation at Neyland... why buy the cart before the horse?

Your arrogance reminds me of McElwain. I hate it.

Because he learned a valuable lesson when Phil was fired. And he does not want to be mike hamilton

He knows what he's walking away with. Whether he leaves tomorrow or at the end of the year (which won't happen). He knows his number already.

I posted this earlier, you stated last week that Butch was gone after KY game, win or lose. You sounded very confident but now not sure?

Again, just spitballing here. Is there any chance that we get an "announcement" tomorrow where Butch says he is stepping down after the So Miss game. Give the guy one more rodeo. Maybe the team will rally around him and send him out with a ride off the field like they did with Fulmer. Then an interim takes it the rest of the way.
