Someone actually started a thread offering the solution of bringing chief back, hire an offensive genius and let the admins really look for great assistants. Keep butch as coach and recruiter so we can save the 20 million we’re going to lose. What th...? Are people outside of this thread really that stupid??

John Gruden is the "shiny" new thing in folks minds. Magical thinking . Let's hire this guy because all these things will fall in place just because of his persona.

High risk hire. He doesn't need the money. He hasn't coached college in decades. Fired from last coaching job as he didn't develop talent. Had strained relationships with players. Will this guy actually be hungry to do the work it takes? 70-80 hour weeks.

Riding high. Though just to play devils advocate. Even Jeff Fisher, the losingest coach in NFL history made the Super Bowl (yes I know he lost). I’m not anti Gruden but that’s not the single answering bell of greatness.
