Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIV

I still do not think we are anywhere with Gruden as of now but I cannot imagine this much smoke and things out there and Butch surviving the week.

If the alert is for Currie to give Butch a vote of confidence or to say they will assess at the end of the season I am done with all this.

I get that. Im just referring to the Jones activity.

The rest we take in stride.

I dont think UT admin. has enough sense to get out of their own way. They just keep trotting Butch out there on Saturdays knowing he is done. I blame UT more than I do Butch , they are embarrassing the University more than Butch is. Fla talks about firing shark boy and they dont waste any time but UT, they just keep on looking incompetent.
They need to put Butch on the road like 4 weeks ago and try to pretend that they have a clue on what they are doing. If Butch is on the sideline next Saturday, I hope the stadium is empty.

Bring Gruden Home

Butch would have been gone last year if not for DeBords play calling and all the injuries. It was too hard to evaluate him.

Was shopping with the family then carving pumpkins when I got a text from a media member saying they have been put on alert for news coming soon out of the AD. called another friend in the media that corroborated. I think it means he is gone, what else would the media be out on alert for on a Sunday night? Neither said they were told what they were waiting to come but there are not too many things it could be. Both off record said they expected to have already gotten the call.

this lines up with what @lllated94 said on Twitter that we would all know before we went to sleep. Shall see

I had a 67 mustang that brought me the same. :)

I don’t swear (except in my head on the golf course) but I laugh out loud every time some unexpecting goob comes in here with one of those old, tired arguments against Gruden and the inevitable “GTFO” happens to them about 3-4 times in a row. One of the highlights of this thread. Lol.

Passionate fan base?:eek:lol:

Hey Guys & Gals, anyone hear that Tennessee offered Gruden 10 million dollars. Can someone post a link, I don't think that has been mentioned 77 times yet.

Nope hadn’t heard a word about it..:)

Unless they were told to keep it quiet till tomorrow. Maybe he didn’t get to meet with the team and they’re waiting on that.

Yeah. I remember that one time the media was asked to keep something quiet....... Wait.....

Kudos to the Grudenites that have updated his Wikipedia page repeatedly for the past 6 weeks stating that he is currently the head coach of the Vols.

Hello! I had to pick up my kids from church, and now I have to put them to bed. But, I caught up. I'm kind of glad about the false alarm because it helped clean out the trash!

Tasty... you were upset this morning. I was just trying to help you through!

Go Vols!

I think this thread is broke. The same link to an article keeps getting posted.

I’ll open up a help desk ticket everyone and keep you posted.

John Gruden appears like a mastermind of football because his only job is watching, analyzing, and commenting on football. Literally, that's all he gets paid to do. When you are a head coach you have to 1. Recruit 2. Deal with media 3. Manage your staff 4. COACH 5. Deal with administration 6. Mentor these young athletes. 6. And a bunch of other stuff

John Gruden is the "shiny" new thing in folks minds. Magical thinking . Let's hire this guy because all these things will fall in place just because of his persona.

High risk hire. He doesn't need the money. He hasn't coached college in decades. Fired from last coaching job as he didn't develop talent. Had strained relationships with players. Will this guy actually be hungry to do the work it takes? 70-80 hour weeks.
