Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIV

This is counter to the 'boosters have all the power' argument. If that was true, then the admin would have to defer to the boosters no matter what.

Boosters have not always pulled in the same direction, therefore admin could stand up to fractured interests in the past.

Here's my translation...the deal the boosters have cooked up has been agreed to by Gruden. I do not think the hang up is the academic side of UT. I believe we have the Haslams vs the rest of the boosters. The Beav, bubba, today's news blitz with the details on the contract are all apart of a campaign to make sure everyone knows that this deal was real and agreed to. And if it doesn't come through it is because if the Haslams. For a family in politics, it would create a tremendous amount of public pressure that could call their hand.

Smh, Gruden is not worth 10 million.

I want him but not for that price tag, I’d say 7 million would be fair.

If not him give Campbell or Frost
5 and an open checkbook for assistants

I believe what he’s saying is, according to his information, the deal structured between Boosters and Gruden has been agreed to and there are no snags. Gruden has said yes to their offer and he’s been steadfast this time.

But, the deal has to get signoff by Currie, BOT, chancellor, etc. and the threat if the deal is rejected is pulled funding for future university projects.

Just my interpretation of what MIT is selling

That is my take on Beave’s response as well.

...and this

I can appreciate you coming to his defense, but I'd rather hear his explanation since he's the one who seems to have all the answers and steps ahead of us in this whole thing. You may be right, though.

Not really defending. I think he has “real” info but at the end of the day we have an admin and maybe one rogue megabooster who has ultimate say.

Not selling. Influencing. He said people from MIT dont predict the future they influence it.

Its a done deal on the booster end. The nerds in admin are holding it up. He came here to give the fanbase the info it wants to put pressure on the admin.

All makes perfect sense now. Gruden is 100% done on the money end and Gruden is on board. UTAD IS NOT.

This could also be pretty accurate. Could be a mix of this and Faces explanation in all honesty.

DTO has steadfastly said that Butch was told that he wasn't going to be back in 18 right after the GA game. Everyone's favorite and most trusted insider (and I like and respect him too) LWSVOL confirmed this morning that what DTO posted was true. So TIFWIW.

Gruden accepted what he is talking about...done deal. Although there is no deal to be signed yet. Until there is there will be pushback because some people don't like giving up power.

I can totally see and believe this.... but if the deal IS NOT signed yet it CANNOT be 100%..... That is the point both he, I and others are making....

I like the way Atlanta Vol put it 65-70% ... That makes sense but 100% just does not

Not sure why him wanting to finish out mnf has anything to do with firing jones

If Currie truely believes Butch gives us the best chance to win this year then maybe that’s why. I don’t personally agree with that but I don’t know the rumored friction with assistants.

Jon can’t finish out MNF but he may want to finish out a set period.

Again all this is just speculation. I want Butch dealt with swiftly.

These are the same questions I have been asking for answers from him
I buy what MIT is selling and I understand how he is attempting to rectify the 100% confidence in a deal occurring with things not being finished but ultimately, I think he just needs to step back with percentage to 95 or 90%. Based on his story it seems that it’s a virtual certainty in his eyes but not yet in reality. Perhaps he’s seen big money get their way enough that he does feel 100% confident even though a deal is yet to be completed. To me, as a math major, anytime I see 100% certainty before something actually occurs, I’m skeptical. I believe MIT is who he says he is and knows what he says he knows, but I think he is overconfident in the competency of the UT administration. We are always capable of blowing it.

Let's say I agree... then what is the hold-up in announcing Butch fired and Gruden hired.... That is the part that has this board volatile ..... Not the BAD loss

Im guessing there is a holdup with UT Academics/BOT.I dont think they have bought in and the boosters are sending out guys like MIT to ruffle feathers and press the issue.

Then, at this point, we need full transparency and this needs to be made public.

The boosters think they have all the power, and according to MIT they’ve gone all in and expect the admin to fold. The “barriers are removed” stuff I think refers to Haslam not fighting it this time around.

You are busy putting out some fires today. I'm sorry I have been throwing some gas on some of these. Trying to reconcile anger/facts/innuendo/complete BS, etc...can make me a tad belligerent.
