There's 2 explanations:
- Currie has a grand plan he's waiting to spring into action; or
- the administration is floundering and has no idea what to do.

I'm sorry, but I think it's the latter.

I don't. They've known since before Currie was hired that this position would come open at the end of the season. They aren't just now thinking about it.

Yep, at this point it's gotta be one of those options. Hope it's not #2

And because it is common sense that he should be fired by now, and based on his own behavior seems to know he is fired, doesn't it make reasonable sense that there is more going on then normal stuff?

STOP with the logic already! I'm mad and I can't understand logic right now.:)

The only thing I do disagree with is his behavior. I watched a little of the BJ show and he seems business as usual.

He hasn't tweeted in weeks, and no power t pin.

Largest donor with an ego the size of the smokey mtns. Kiffin, Dooley, Jones, Hamilton,Hart, Currie, all his decisions. Atlanta Vol said a few days ago David Blackburn was a deal in place o be the next AD. If you remember Haslam took Davenport and rushed out at the last minute to interview Currie and twisted Davenport into offering him the job. Had Peyton to go out and try to smooth it over with everyone. All of this lays at his feet.

What I am trying to figure out is why Peyton does what he says, but I think deep down I know the answer.

He said unequivocally that Butch was within 48 hours win or lose. Now he is back pedaling and making excuses. Yall don't want to see it for what it is, but I'll call it like I see it.

Yep we've all he played IMO. There is literally no point in keeping butch at this point. Nobody is gonna convince me otherwise either. And I'm gonna keep stating this until something has changed. I used to look forward to Saturday's but not anymore

I want to hope that Currie has had a plan the whole time and is just letting it play out, but with UT’s track record in this area I can’t.

I think what has become crystal clear is that no one on this board has any sources and no one on this board has any idea what is going to happen

It has nothing to do with impatience. It has everything to do with COMMON SENSE.

Ok, does common sense tell you there's tangible benefit to firing Butch at 12pm today as opposed to 6pm today? Does common sense tell you that we all know every variable factoring into the decision?

Not trying to be argumentative, but come on. People are acting like because Butch wasn't Kiffined in Lexington, then the whole thing is falling apart. That doesn't sound like common sense to me.

I don't think this was his plan. I think he planned for Butch to finish the season. I don't think he planned on Butch tanking like this.

Also, did you see the post game conference last night. The reporters were drilling MCElwain on his coaching future.

You mean to tell me there isn’t one local overly eager noob reporter in Knoxville trying to get to the bottom of this. We never get it, never is Jones asked a tough question. Not everyone can be bought off.

And ask for a statement from Currie already...someone, anyone has to have goals of going on to a better reporting gig somewhere.

Brent Hubbs stated this AM he requested an official response from the AD last night regarding the status of the program. Got no response.

Well it is a message board. He brings good info. It has been said many moving parts and things change. If you hang on what someone here says then you definitely need a life.

Butch could've agreed to a buyout but gets to coach till seasons end thus allowing Currie to start looking for his replacement.

We have no idea of what's going on. Brent & company are being showed the door which tells me something is going down inside the Athletic Department.

Maybe I'm missing something but what is Tennessee or Johnny Currie for that matter gaining by keeping butch longer if the deal with gruden is already done? A fu**ed recruiting class is what I'm getting at, ami right?

The Gruden deal isn't done. If they have in fact reached out to Gruden the talks are still on going. I want Gruden as bad as the next guy/girl but don't buy into the hype just yet. I suggest cautious optimism.

He deserves to be Kiffined, imo. And Petrinoed by Petrino. I don't even know what that means but I know it wouldn't be good.

I can bring you the same facts on many others that are considered in the know but I can also unequivocally say most to a man/woman insider? has said it's a fluid situation !
