The decision has been made. He is out. The question is timing. You idiots calling for Currie's head ought to wait and see where we are in six weeks before making a Judgment.
I know this is the instant gratification generation, but sometimes one must let the process actually play out, and in the end achieve a better result.
Rest assured, Butch will not be the HC in four weeks.
And the process of finding and securing the next coach will not be slowed by not firing him tomorrow.

Fair enough. I will be clear though:
1. I still think Butch will not coach next Saturday,
2. I think the AD started that ball rolling last night,
3. I think Gruden will be our next coach.
The evidence that causes me to believe these things hasn't changed or been called into question. I was simply speculating about a possible new variable. Thought I was clear about that.
So, one of my own small informational contributions to this conversation was input from the academic admin side (AA) that they had agreed on a number of concessions (from their perspective) to the football program. That was a major article, and it appeared to be cleared out of the way of the hire.
Within the last 24 hours we have seen some very specific rumors about Gruden's staff. Specifically, this morning we have a suggestion that he may have tapped Art Briles as OC.
I can think of nothing, literally nothing, that would be more likely to make the players in the AA lose their collective ish than allowing Art Briles to set foot on campus in an official capacity. It would be the kind of move that could easily throw a huge wrench into negotiations.
I'm not sure if the Briles rumor is true. I am interested that it has come out right at the time we expected to hear an announcement about Butch, but we haven't.
I've tried contacting my AA person, no response yet this morning. Not entirely unexpected with church going on. Will try again to find something out later.
IF the Briles rumor is true, then it's absolutely going to be a showdown between the $ and the AA. We will see who wins. I can tell you this though: if Gruden comes and Briles ends up being on staff, it will represent a huge power shift between football and academics, akin to the Romans burning Carthage and sowing the fields with salt.
Grude on!
Alabama football coach Nick Saban will be paid $11.125 million this season under a three-year contract extension that includes a $4 million signing bonus approved Tuesday by the university board of trustees compensation committee.
This (IF TRUE) could very well be the reason that Butch was not fired right after the Kentucky game.... and could be the snag with Gruden :hi:
And this where we find out your full of it. Thanks for playing, but it looks like you and DocVol have made the F.o.S. List. Thanks for playing, now kindly drag your carcass out of here. So, one of my own small informational contributions to this conversation was input from the academic admin side (AA) that they had agreed on a number of concessions (from their perspective) to the football program.
