Do you think he gets played sometimes?

I don't know.

I think he used to get good info and shared it here but sometimes it changed and it wasn't his fault.

He's made it clear he doesn't get that type of info anymore and has stepped back from all of it. But people still keep interrogating him.

I believe they normally send out the press info on Sunday night for Monday. I could be wrong. But I believe that’s what happened last Sunday.

Hyams said Butch will have his normal Monday press conference and there will be no press conference today

I’ll say it again, I just don’t see how Currie and company can trot BJ out in Neyland at Homecoming. And if he does, at least say something. Give Butch a vote of confidence or something. Let us fans know what’s going on. I won’t watch another game this year. If they fired Butch this week, I was buying tickets for all 6 in my family to go next weekend. If they keep him, I won’t even watch. Now, how many other fans are thinking the same way?

I don't necessarily think it does. I think it gives us an idea of whatever we want to believe. I'm still trying to figure out what I believe.

I like Larry and I think he gets alot of unwarranted criticism. That said, he's admitted he doesn't get info like he used to, therefore I just don't pay much attention to him. If you know what I mean.

Hyams is still saying this morning that Currie does not want to fire Butch. I know someone from the AD is feeding that info to Hyams, but something is said last week makes no sense.
I thought I read on here that he said that if Currie thought Butch was the right person for job that he (Currie) would take the hit for empty stands and loss of revenues from boosters.

That makes no sense at all, isn't one of the main jobs of the AD to increase revenue? If that is truly the way Currie thinks then he will be out of a job very soon as well.

Good morning, everyone!

I woke up at 4 AM completely unable to go back to sleep like a kid on Christmas morning. I believe we will learn that Butch is no longer with us later today or at tomorrow's regularly scheduled press conference.

I think the Beav's posts and tweets over the last 24 hours have been the most believable ones yet. Funny how some on here think they show him to be a troll. All he's doing is revealing his motive. Last time the boosters' negotiations with Gruden were kept quiet so everyone could save face. This time the boosters want to be sure everyone knows who is responsible if this doesn't happen. I don't blame them.

I think Currie is a man who works quickly. And if the major pieces have been worked out already, I believe we could have this wrapped up in time for my brother to be Gruden for Halloween (all he needs is a visor). I have no insider knowledge on that, just a hunch.

I think the pieces are coming together for a bright future for the university of Tennessee.

Hope so!

I’ve got season tickets, but I’d rather throw them in he garbage disposal than watch another game with Butch on the sidelines. It’s insulting

Two things disturbing about last night that I’d like to hear an opinion on from those in the know.

We have been told that players and Jones have known since UMass that coach was gone... or at least that a mutual agreement was in place.

However Jones seems very much expectant or coaching for the foreseeable future (we were told win or lose he’d be gone) and players both showed and displayed that they are playing for Butch and seem reserved that him coming back would be agreeable. What gives, how can there be such a lack of acknowledgement and blinders if our program is in such an array as many have stated?

Sorry folks, no update this morning. I'm just spent. Drained might be a better word and I'm not just talking about fatigued. Yesterday was just a final kick in the gut after being beat by Mike Tyson for about 18 rounds.

And yet, Jones. Is. Still. Here. This. Morning.

I normally try to come up with some decent recaps, but I'm just not able to this morning. Maybe by this evening I'll be back in form.

Yeah that makes no sense, cause wasn't one of his big things at KState was raising money and revenue?

Why would he change that philosophy at a new location?

And if he is truly thinking that way then he needs to go as well

That's it!! I'm officially done with Currie and the whole sh*t show. Until later, probably, but as of right now, I'm done

I agree. And you have all those VFL’s back on the sidelines and the thousands of alumni returning for their once a year game. It would absolutely be a slap in the face to everyone who’s ever played and worn the T to be subjected to another Botch Jones coached game. I’ve been pretty reserved to this point because waiting till after bama made some sense. But not anymore. I’m almost ready to write a very sternly written email filled with the harshest of words and a strongly implied tone of anger and malcontent!

The wings were fantastic! Thanks for asking. Double frying really is the key to crispy wings.

Basically the Beav just laid out that the boosters have completely negotiated the deal with Gruden. Ready for signatures. He said that his confidence comes from the fact that the major boosters are ready to deny any future funding if this doesn't happen. He used a carrot and stick analogy. The AD can't continue to function without the support of those boosters so there really isn't a choice.

If you dont mind can u post a quick run down of how you prepare your wings.

Who knows maybe something is going on behind the scenes, making moves we don’t see...but we are 0-5 in the SEC.

No way Currie sends this guy into Neyland Stadium Saturday night right? I mean theres a good chance we go 0-8 in SEC play.

Anyways it’s all on Currie now...pull the trigger (today preferably) make some ticket sales this week and let’s have a homecoming worth attending.

It’s sad. It really is. I just feel like the only way to get through to this athletic department is with empty seats

Sexton negotiated Mac's contract, which means it should not have a mitigation clause. UF is going to have to pay to get rid of him and the way things are looking that is inevitable. The red herring of firing for cause is probably intended to try and bring Mac to the negotiating table to discuss a reduction and as fan/booster-service so the AD doesn't have to explain "wasting" $13 million. It's my understanding that Butch's contract does contain a mitigation clause, which is probably the main reason he tried so hard to get a new deal before the season started. Butch's buyout is more like temporary alimony where UTAD could make monthly payments for a year and then take him to court and argue that he is intentionally unemployed or underemployed. The whole thing seems backwards right now because the coach with less leverage seems to be temporarily safer than the coach with the ironclad contract.

Yes, they are trying to bring McElwain to the negotiating table. But if the whole death threat situation hadn't been there, they wouldn't be. That was my point.

Like I said, I knew it'd be unpopular but that doesn't change that it's accurate. Every school suffering losses right now, has their message board and everyone wanting to fire their AD because their coach is still employed.

You or anyone else that says I'm wrong, will be very appreciated by the other posters. Not the first time I've taken an unpopular stance because it's reality. Mid November is the usual start of firing season. I'm personally in no way objecting to doing it today but it's just not that likely. Unless they have someone else lined up.
