If this is them trying hard, they can hop in Butchs U-Haul with him.
I don't necessarily think it does. I think it gives us an idea of whatever we want to believe. I'm still trying to figure out what I believe.
I like Larry and I think he gets alot of unwarranted criticism. That said, he's admitted he doesn't get info like he used to, therefore I just don't pay much attention to him. If you know what I mean.
Got it.
Should still give us an idea where we stand on a search.
LWS (Larry) posted last night that keeping Jones the remainder of the season is his preference. Because he doesn't believe the kids will try as hard for an interim currently on our staff.
Just his opinion of course but signals his side (administration) still isn't leaking/showing any signs of a current deal.
I would be glad to have a change or a visible move in the right direction today or tomorrow. However, I would not be surprised if Butch finished the season. As much as that feels like torture for the fans, I think it would be wrong to assume that nothing is happening because he is still the coach.
Sexton negotiated Mac's contract, which means it should not have a mitigation clause. UF is going to have to pay to get rid of him and the way things are looking that is inevitable. The red herring of firing for cause is probably intended to try and bring Mac to the negotiating table to discuss a reduction and as fan/booster-service so the AD doesn't have to explain "wasting" $13 million. It's my understanding that Butch's contract does contain a mitigation clause, which is probably the main reason he tried so hard to get a new deal before the season started. Butch's buyout is more like temporary alimony where UTAD could make monthly payments for a year and then take him to court and argue that he is intentionally unemployed or underemployed. The whole thing seems backwards right now because the coach with less leverage seems to be temporarily safer than the coach with the ironclad contract.I'm going to say something really unpopular but I'm just being honest.
The only reason we're hearing about Jim McElwain is because he possibly gave them an out.
Had he not potentially lied, he most likely wouldn't be fired until at least mid November. Same as Sumlin or Petrino. It's just standard business practice. The LSU situation is the rare occurrence, not the norm.
We don't care about any of that because we're a passionate fanbase but that also means emotional. We are just tired of looking at him and listening to him. But the truth is, that following standard protocol doesn't mean Currie isn't interested in winning. He may not be, but unless we already have someone lined up, Currie waiting doesn't necessarily mean anything.
