The "two sides" do not represent groups who are vehemently opposed to each other. It's just differing opinions about the timing on these things and what is best for the program, current players, future coaches, and recruits. Not everyone sees everything the same in those regards.
It's not that there's a strong group of people opposed to JG. Just a matter of how/when we get there.
Correct. From what I've been told, the work is done, minus the timing and the rest of this season. I don't speculate to know WHEN that will be resolved. But obviously the sooner the better, for all parties involved, IMO.
If Butch is let go Sunday/Monday, take that to be a very good sign. Those of us on a message board are not the only ones ready to see the plan start to unfold
The friction between the 2 sides over the timing seems to be growing, based on what I've heard.
Gruden's camp sees things spiraling downward and is frustrated that UT won't just pull the plug on Butch already. The John Kelly situation doesn't ease things. But recruiting is also an issue. It's easy to say "He's Jon Gruden, kids will come crawling to him" but the reality is that he's never done this, and with the early signing period, the clock is ticking. He not only needs to learn and evaluate the talent, but also how the recruiting rules and process work. Yes, he will finish out with MNF, but he's ready to get the ball rolling at UT.
The other side is standing firm in its desire to give the seniors the best chance to win and compete the rest of this year. While a novel desire, there's much disagreement, very high up, about who/what gives them the best chance.
For those who have been paranoid about Gruden until the press conference is done and the ink is dry, this increasing friction is cause for concern. Just thought I would share.
Carry on.
