Gruden is going to be the next coach, guys. Seriously. Go ahead and start letting that sink in. It's going to be A LOT of fun around here again very soon. I know it seems crazy but it's real.

I'm on that train too. I think it's happening.

Pigs will fly in a frozen hell before UT pays a $9M buyout for an up-and-comer. Ditto $6M. UT will only pay big money for a big name.

Yeah the Iowa st AD was very smart and knew what he had before everyone else did. Personally I think Campbell is in a good spot where he is. Fits his connections.

UT will approach others, including Mullen, before Frost. There is a higher comfort level with hiring a sitting P5 HC.

As of this past Saturday, LWS's understanding was they would go all in on trying to get Frost after no go on Gruden. Of course, things could have changed since then.

Frost has a serious coaching pedigree. Hard not to like his relatively unique career of QB to LB to defensive coaching to offensive coaching under all the big names...

Well, they keep trying. Sometimes, well-paid, winning coaches are happy to stay where they are. Imagine that.

They pretty much always do. Why leave and take a risk when you can stay where you are and negotiate a raise?

Something our fans do not or will not comprehend.

I get the logic behind that behind the reasoning. I wouldn’t be mad about Mullen but I personally want Frost more than Mullen.

Apparently the frost playing scout team QB for Navy prep wasn't the first time. His Northern Iowa DC days he didn't like the tempo the scout team offense was going at to replicate the high speed New Hampshire offense so he jumped in at QB and ran it then as well so his defense got better looks.

Yep. UT will make the calls, then drop down to the best available. Miss St will pay more to keep Mullen, who's already well-paid, so UT will probably move on pretty quickly, unless there is serious interest... which there hasn't been before.

Gruden
Kelly
Patterson
Frost
Mullen

I know it's been asked over and over, but does UT's next coach come from this list? If so, are you content with any of these coaches?

I am if a legit effort is made at the Gruden/Kelly/Patterson(s) and we end up with Frost or Mullen.

No it does not because this list is ridiculous.

Did some research...Is this right? Mullen's buyout is his salary (4.5M) for each left on contract (2021) 18M. According to his old contract, new one can't find the #s

Frost makes 2M and buyout is 4.5M.

Firing CBJ cost approx 8M

2 Scenarios
Mullen is new coach and costs 18M+27.5M (5yrs making at least 5.5M per year) + 8M CBJ Buyout because you have to pay him more than he is making + assistant coaches firing and hiring. Close to 60M

Frost is new coach and cost 4.5M + 20M (5yrs at 4M)+ CBJ Buyout at 8M + AC hiring and firing. Close to 38M

First time I'm hoping our cheapness works in our favor.

I used USA Today #s
