In my opinion it’s time to get behind who the next coach is as a fan base, we haven’t collectively backed a coach since Fulmer. I’m ready for a change and believe in the next coach whoever that might be. I’m ready to be positive about UT football. I don’t believe for a second that volnation is gonna break Gruden getting before hubbs, Rucker, etc...

I think fans were generally behind Kiffin at first. For me it was when he started putting posters and videos of USC players up in the locker rooms that he lost me. Once the season started I was ready for him to be gone. I was never behind the Dooley hire and thought Butch might do ok.

He’s not averaging an extra win vs Butch... it’s the combo of Kiffin Dooley and Butch. Dooley’s teams drag that % down.

Since Butch has been been hired, Mullen is just under a game better per season.

Your spot on regarding him being a known commodity vs higher ceiling. I want to win big, and Frost is a calculated risk worth taking, same as Florida taking Urban Meyer from Utah. I could be completely wrong, but I”ll take a potentially elite coach who may not be over a coach who seems to have around a 9 win ceiling.

All subjective of course

I agree with you in theory, but I'm not sure Frost can be compared exactly to Meyer at this point.

Meyer'd been a HC for 4 years before being hired at UF, had produced at a high level at two different schools (neither of which was in an area as talent rich as UCF), he'd had a top 25 and a top ten finish to his name (Frost may match that part this year, FWIW though), and was doing things on offense that were fairly innovative at the time.

Like I said, I'm a big fan of Frost. But if his resume was as good as Meyer's, he'd be an absolute no brainer and at the top of ours and everybody else's list. Frost hasn't proven quite as much yet as Meyer had at the point UF hired him.

Unfortunately, as we know, there are no clear no brainers right now. Coaching searches nowadays are a product of lucky timing as much as anything

It’s not certain but I feel there is enough there to roll with Frost

Beverly Davenport is the one who blew up the Blackburn hire. She wouldn't even interview him in person.

I'm kind of tired of trying to figure out what motivates folks with that kind of money and power, so I'll just ask say this (somewhat rhetorically):

Is it also possible the power brokers at UT were instrumental in getting Davenport her position? If so, then couldn't Nick's puppet theory extend beyond the AD?

I don’t understand his desire to make us Virginia. And of course the Browns....nuff said. Dude is killing our program single handedly if he is prohibiting things or would prohibit Gruden

I don’t understand how one big money booster has the power to override all the other big money boosters combined. I can’t understand that at all. I’m sure there are boosters who give as much as he does.

Probably because the one big booster being referred to told her to do it. We all know at this point that those in a position of authority (Currie, Davenport) are puppets for the ones who donate all the money and pay their salaries.

I think you are going too far with this with no facts to back it up. It's called speculation.

Not quite fair to a man who has donated 9 figures to the university.

Ah, the voice of reason. Seriously, he has donated millions and millions more than almost any of us ever will. No one is going to tell him to kick rocks. If the other big-time donors are united, then I believe that they will be able to convince him, if, he is, in fact, a roadblock in this process.

Georgia fans are sure that Kirby is coach of the year. I'm rooting for Mark Richt, (If he can win out, he surely has a chance) I'm thinking James Franklin, if he beats Ohio State.

7 of the 8 seasons prior to his arrival were below .300 in total wins, not just SEC. What he has done here is equivalent or better than what Franklin did at Vandy.

Yes.

Only SEC title in 1941.

MSU is the UK of the West, which has been the tougher division his entire time there.

Won 8-10 games four times at MSU and his ceiling here would be 9?

Nick isn’t the first person to suggest that. McGee pub said same thing the other day and acted like I was a dumbass for disagreeing.

I don’t get it.

I am not sold on Mullen, either. If it is him or an up and comer, I would likely favor Mullen, though Frost would probably give me the glads.
