Mr Currie is going higher and higher on people's 'ish list every day with this crap...
At this point, if he keeps Butch till the end and then hires some Dooley 2.0 because he waited too long, folks are going to want him gone quicker than Butch.

There you go again, Mr Positive. You have no clue what Currie will do. But whatever it is, if it's not what you wanted it'll be wrong.

As for Mullen, people tried to tell you that the reason he's still at MSU is not because of lack of offers, rather he has turned them down. People didn't flame you, they just disagreed with you. But you don't handle it very well when things don't go the way you want.

The coaching pool is never great. There is never a year where the pool is just teeming with great candidates who want to jump. If that's part of your thought process, you'll never rise above a certain threshold in this.

It's about as good this year as any. One clear up and comer (Frost) and one proven guy looking for a job (Kelly). The rest is, as usual, getting someone you want to leave their current job for yours.

9-11. He has done more with less nearly every year at MSU.

Imagine what someone doing more with less can accomplish at Tennessee. I realize he doesn’t look ripped in a schmedium polo or throw on a helmet and practice, but he’s a damn good football coach.

Why?...What evidence is there that he is a dang good head coach? I think he is just ok as a head coach, but I do think he is a really good OC.

For one, he’s on the verge of MSU’s 8th straight bowl appearance. 5-2 record in those bowls.

MSU went to 12 bowls in the 100+ years before Mullen.

He is doing the same thing if not better than what Franklin did at Vandy. Look how that turned out.

I am a fan of Mullen but Miss State has won at a higher level before he got there than Vandy has ever dreamed of. Winning at Vandy is more impressive

I’ve not been a big proponent of Mullen to UT, but that is a very compelling stat, especially considering that he has done this during much of a period when the SECw was the dominant division in the country.

I think a lot of people, including myself, have overrated his recruiting ability. By that I mean he's been terrible at actually building a roster. Every single year he's been here we've had at least 2 or 3 areas of the team that have been extremely thin. I've came to the conclusion that's he's just a bad football coach at this level.

I agree 1000% He's great at getting the ranking, but terrible at getting players that fit the system of fill a place of need.

Maybe I’m crazy but Florida fans act like Swamp donkey is Dooley. He’s not a bad coach. The roster was talented at the top but very thin when he got there.

Eh, he's not Dooley, but certainly not very good. His offenses aren't producing against anyone.

Now that is a good point, but I still ain't buying that he is a "great" or "slam dunk hire" type of Head Coach.
Who would you define as a "slam dunk hire"? Gruden, Patterson, Kelly?

At that tier of coaching candidates, getting one hired depends on outside circumstances almost as much the work the AD does. Currie could do everything right and there's a legit reason each of those could decide not to come that would not reflect badly on Currie IMO.

I would call Mullen a "slam dunk" in the sense that he is one of the best coaches in the tier that a fantastic pitch by Currie could lead him to come here
