Wait, you mean the same academic admin that now has UTK ranked in the top 25 as far as research institutions go? Sports isn't their thing, sure, but they aren't stupid people.
I believe he has been told he can save his job with a certain amount of wins.... at first I did not buy this.... but that seems evident by his posture that he is not worried about loosing his job... I think he believes he can win... all coaches do, but that would take a miracle
If he wins at Kentucky I think he will coach next home game.... I doubt he wins, but could happen...
I think he loses at Kentucky he will not coach next home game
Again just my ideas from what I hear
I graduated from Cleveland too. No one I know went to anything remotely resembling an Ivy league school and we had 9 kids in our senoir class make a perfect score on the ACT. 32 had a 4.0. We had a few go to Vandy, a couple to Georgia Tech and I think one went to Emory. You may be telling the truth, but I find it very hard to believe that you knew 3 kids that went to MIT out of your class.
Unless Currie has negotiated a lower buyout as I believe.
But you know what, let's say it doesn't save a penny for the AD. That makes it even less defensible to allow Butch out there as the face of your program running down these players.

Whoa wtf? Since when does research based = liberal? If you want your graduates ready for the real world then send them to a service academy or boot camp. Isn't going to happen at a state university.Therein lies part of the problem. I don't want a liberal research institution. I want a school that equips their graduates for the real world. I am not against doing some research, but this great university was a land grant institution for the great citizens of its state. We seem to be trying to get away from that.
Totally agree. My point is...its not the money that is affecting the time of this. Its something else. Not sure what, but he isn't keeping him just to save money. The money saved is relatively insignificant week to week.
At this point I'm really beginning to wonder if he's even actually on the hot seat at all. I mean sure we are all pissed off and ranting. The media is talking about it more and more everyday. Yet, Lyle Allen is going about things like it's business as usual and Currie's biggest concern is tennis. Here I've been worried about us being trolled by some random guy on a message board and it's looking like the real troll job might be coming from the program itself.
Maybe BUTCH is the interim coach.
Currie: Were going to go a different direction but I have an idea. Im willing to keep you on board and give you a vote of confidence and help you find the next fit for you and you will help us get through this season. You will continue to coach this team, try to win as many games as you can and keep things vanilla in front of the media and the team. Business as usual. This arrangement is affective as of 10/1. Rather then being fired and tarnish your image, we will appreciate all youve done for TN. In exchange, your buyout will be reduced to ____ million and you get to salvage your hire ability.
Butch and agent: well take it.
Or Currie is just an idiot.

I'm aware. Dont care, as it relates to the constant demeaning of the players. I said in a separate post that I'm sure there are good reasons Butch hasn't been fired. But John Currie needs to have that talk with Butch about how he addresses his players publicly.
