The noon edition of the recap...

For those just tuning in, I think I'll run my recaps kind of like TV shows where you get the "Previously on..." montages with different, though important snippets of information. So, here goes...

Previously, on The Grudenmania Saga

Conversations still ongoing as to the veracity of Beaver and Bubba to a lesser extent.

Beaver's identity is getting played like six degrees of Kevin Bacon. Still no idea who he is. Many of us don't care either.

Jones still coach as seen in the press conference.

And that makes most of us sad pandas...<sigh>

And a few of us angry pandas (ever seen an angry panda? It ain't pretty)

And a lot of snippy comments back and forth with multiple posters.

The 2012 OG "insiders" like DTO, LWS and Boro haven't made many appearances as of today. Here and there, but nothing major.

We created a monster with a few folks in posting various pictures (at least one positive came from all this)

Freak contemplates taking out an ad on richmofos dot com for a yacht crew.

Ape volunteers to be bartender on yacht "without pay." GV volunteers to be official HR Rep and promises Freak "only the finest [looking] crew on the seven seas."

Freak places a custom order for a larger yacht and has two staterooms converted into additional alcohol storage after signing Ape

Greywolf is still a hater because he has no game.

Doyle's insider status is revoked after his contacts tell him to "eat **** and die" along with specific references to his sexual preferences and parental lineage.

Will update again this evening.

I think the more relaxed look is because he knows he’s done. There isn’t any pressure to keep a job he’s been told he’s already losing.

Crap, I’d be happy if Currie came out and gave us the ol shooter McGavin 2 finger shot and wink. Give us something to let the fans know you hear us.

Wait, you mean the same academic admin that now has UTK ranked in the top 25 as far as research institutions go? Sports isn't their thing, sure, but they aren't stupid people.

Therein lies part of the problem. I don't want a liberal research institution. I want a school that equips their graduates for the real world. I am not against doing some research, but this great university was a land grant institution for the great citizens of its state. We seem to be trying to get away from that.

I believe he has been told he can save his job with a certain amount of wins.... at first I did not buy this.... but that seems evident by his posture that he is not worried about loosing his job... I think he believes he can win... all coaches do, but that would take a miracle

If he wins at Kentucky I think he will coach next home game.... I doubt he wins, but could happen...

I think he loses at Kentucky he will not coach next home game

Again just my ideas from what I hear

If the administration believes that he is the answer they are clearly the problem. If they are of that notion they will be laughed at by everyone and they will deserve what they get. I still don't buy that they are that clueless but I respect your opinion. No doubt I believe there are some that actually believe that in the administration and that is sad. I can pretty much promise one thing if they don't think they won't see a reduction in folks going to games or finiancial support they are totally clueless. If they thing Tennessee fans are naïve, they need to go look at the crowds during Dooleys last days. And this time it will be WORSE! You can take that to the bank. One more thought maybe the reason he looks so loose is because he has known for some time it was the end. SOON!!!!! GET IT DONE!!!!GBO!!!!!

I graduated from Cleveland too. No one I know went to anything remotely resembling an Ivy league school and we had 9 kids in our senoir class make a perfect score on the ACT. 32 had a 4.0. We had a few go to Vandy, a couple to Georgia Tech and I think one went to Emory. You may be telling the truth, but I find it very hard to believe that you knew 3 kids that went to MIT out of your class.

Roane county we used to play you guys

Unless Currie has negotiated a lower buyout as I believe.

But you know what, let's say it doesn't save a penny for the AD. That makes it even less defensible to allow Butch out there as the face of your program running down these players.

Totally agree. My point is...its not the money that is affecting the time of this. Its something else. Not sure what, but he isn't keeping him just to save money. The money saved is relatively insignificant week to week.

Not all from my class. One that was a class ahead of me, one a class behind me, and another behind that.

One is doc in Cincinnati now.

Whoa wtf? Since when does research based = liberal? If you want your graduates ready for the real world then send them to a service academy or boot camp. Isn't going to happen at a state university.

At this point I'm really beginning to wonder if he's even actually on the hot seat at all. I mean sure we are all pissed off and ranting. The media is talking about it more and more everyday. Yet, Lyle Allen is going about things like it's business as usual and Currie's biggest concern is tennis. Here I've been worried about us being trolled by some random guy on a message board and it's looking like the real troll job might be coming from the program itself.

I'm aware. Dont care, as it relates to the constant demeaning of the players. I said in a separate post that I'm sure there are good reasons Butch hasn't been fired. But John Currie needs to have that talk with Butch about how he addresses his players publicly.

I honestly don't believe it's Currie's call.

Seems to me that is being directed elsewhere and he's just a poster boy.

Imo

They stand to lose a lot more by even entertaining the thought of him coming back. If that happens bye bye UT for at least 10 years. The loss of finiancial support will be STAGGERING!!!!! SOON!!!!! GBO!!!!

Maybe BUTCH is the interim coach.

Currie: “Were going to go a different direction but I have an idea. I’m willing to keep you on board and give you a vote of confidence and help you find the next fit for you and you will help us get through this season. You will continue to coach this team, try to win as many games as you can and keep things vanilla in front of the media and the team. Business as usual. This arrangement is affective as of 10/1. Rather then being fired and tarnish your image, we will appreciate all you’ve done for TN. In exchange, your buyout will be reduced to ____ million and you get to salvage your hire ability.”

Butch and agent: “well take it.”

Or Currie is just an idiot.

This is pretty plausible. Ultimately butch did a good job pulling the “program” out of its tailspin, but he has proven he is good at the administrative stuff....just can’t coach.

So, thanks for your time. Go and find another job.

I am right there with you. I have no faith in our administration to play this right. Absolutely none.

I think he should have been canned after UGA...but I guess I am not privy to all the info.

I thought for sure he would be gone after last weekend.
