For those that love Frost:

Matt Campbell took over Iowa State after 3-9, 2-10, and 3-9 seasons. In year 2 they are 5-2 already with a win over #3 Oklahoma and TCU up next week. Is his resume not more impressive at this time than Frost including his 35-15 record at Toledo?

Think I would still go Frost, but Campbell wouldn’t be horrible either. If what LWS is true and we are already down the list some I think we won’t have a top target until the dust settles at the end of the year. We will probably have tabs on most of the mid-major names and up and comers that have been mentioned in here and see who ends up with the best resume in the end.

And every Tennessee fan knows the ad has to get the agreement of a few of the boosters.
Blaming Currie at this point is just stupid venting but so UT fanbase.

I don’t think it is just the fan base. The media will start picking up on it soon. The narrative will shift to the lowered expectations the AD has for a Tennessee football.

His win over Oklahoma is more impressive than anything Frost can do this year. Schedule wise

It helps him a lot. If he can notch another nice win down the stretch he'll be a great candidate.

I still think Frost will be the easiest sell to the fanbase. Especially if he goes 11-0. Easy comparison to Urban Meyer at that point.

Not sure there's a precedent of a guy turning around a team that dramatically and failing at a higher level.

Valid argument. I think what helps Frost is his oregon time. Been in a lot of big games calling plays for a while

Excited about some of our young talent on D. Shamburger has a bit of Sutton in him and the young LBs are athletic and fast.

We just now got through playing the #1 and #3 teams in the nation, plus the top 3 in our division. We had a QB who was struggling, and put in a redshirt freshman, who now has 2 games under his belt as starter. Our top WR is out for the year, and I believe a few OL are out for the year, as well.

The easy part of our SEC schedule is coming up, with the possible exception of the LSU game. So, there is some cause for optimism.

Disclaimer: This in no way is an attempt to get the coaching staff off the hook. It is their job to have the team ready, and to have capable backups ready to go. This is also not a prediction of going undefeated from here on out. Unfortunately, there is little evidence that would point to the likelyhood of winning out, or even coming close.

There is no cause for optimism. Easy part of the schedule, sure, but if you are optimistic about possibly beating Vandy and Kentucky, then the destruction is complete.

This was inevitable. Anyone following college football knows Butch should be fired. The longer Currie waits, the more it reflects on him as being indecisive and having no plan. Sort of makes him look desparate, hoping Butch can win out and keep Currie from having to make a “hard” choice.

Even if Butch somehow won out, I don’t think we should keep him. He would still top every hotseat list in America which will drag down his recruiting. We’d be in worse shape, not better shape.

Hardly.

Just because he doesn’t go red ass and fire him midseason doesn’t mean he is without a plan. These are big boy decisions. A lot riding on all this but ultimately the timing of it is not nearly as important as the next hire.

Everyone just wants to know it’s over but rest assured it’s over. Just isn’t official yet.

This. The whole coaching Mariotta to a Heisman and making a run for a national championship thing is kinda big. I view UCF success as a confirmation that he is ready to be HC, his skill isn't so much in question.

Scott Frost stat for you..... Mariota and Vernon Adams finished #1 in country in 2014 and 2015 for QB passing efficiency. Milton his current QB is #2 in country.

Yep I think his system is QB friendly

Scott Frost UCF

2016
6-7 with a loss to Arkansas St in a low tier bowl. No notable wins. 4 games with 30+ pts.

2 years at UCF
12-7 overall record

2017
6-0 and ranked 20th
Has scored 30+ points in all their games.
No notable wins but beat Memphis. Navy played them closest.

SIAP, but should be mentioned that UCF went 0-12 in 2015

I would imagine that with his track record, he would be able to keep Dormady, Guarantano, Martinez, and Penix in the fold.

Hire Frost, keep Shoop, and work together to fix our 3rd down defense. The O will be fine under Frost. Cutcliffe and/or Cheney like...

Frost is cooler looking and more badass.

Frost looks like Brock Lesnar.

Campbell looks like he has a raging clue.

Frost is playing with some young players on offense. QB is a sophomore. Leading rusher is a sophomore. Starting WR's are junior, sophomore, and freshman.

His defense has done seniors.

Not usually a fan of the Twitter Crazies, but I hope they are absolutely savaging Butch right now. No boundaries. No rules.

Cross the line, then take 6 more steps.

Want him as miserable and uncomfortable as possible.

I know everyone wants Butch Jones gone like yesterday, but unless someone currently outside of coaching has said yes, there is no reason to make a move now. If Gruden, Kelly, Peterson, or Patterson are a no go, I'd rather UT take it's time and get it right this time. Unless, of course, we are at risk of missing a bowl or we start losing more recruits.

You can roll with an interim and still take your time and get it right.

We are at risk of missing a bowl though. Look at what we have left:

UK: ?
Southern Miss: should win
Missouri: ?
LSU: loss, IMO
Vandy: ?

Sure we can make a bowl but it’s definitely an uphill climb. I don’t think we can win 2/3 of those question makes games.

I think the UT admin sees Jones making a bowl and having a mutual parting of ways at the end of the year as the ideal scenario. I'd say they wait until that ideal is no longer on the table before they make a move. There are a lot of moving parts behind deals like this, and that makes it hard to judge on the surface.

but says nothing. Complete waste of time. Reiterated over and over how it was a business and this is a business decision.

Said nothing has been decided and Jones could still come back if 7-5 or better...

Did say Fulmer would probably say not to fire in mid-season.

Sounds to me like he said a lot. Maybe you just don't like what he said?
