I believe whatever happens, presser today or Butch coaches next week....is in the best interest of what Currie is trying to achieve. He has a reason for everything he does.

I'm still aboard FWIW...no info, just nothing telling me otherwise.

And the collective bowel movement releases...

No news is good news.

I was actually just teasing but in all fairness , except for his confident way he delivered his info , he actually was just answering what was asked of him by others

Disclaimer: I am in no way for or against the “Beav” I think only that like I said before he has ice water in his veins , never flinched and will be famous on VN one way or the other . 😊

Anyone who thinks coach Butch can survive doesn't know football. Year 5, 0 and 4 in conference is never going to get it done. The reason for the Bitcisms is to try to cover up for lack of coaching ability. One last thing, when you find the right coach, he will not have to be begging for a raise an extension, the AD will give him one to keep him from leaving.

Haven't been on hdre much since the last coaching hire. I had a friend in the media side of the athletic deoartment at that time, and after sharing what I was hearing basically had to leave the forum after we didn't get Gruden. Just remember that there was some bs in here last time but a large portion of what we were hearing from the insiders turned out to be true, and the AD messed it up. Let's just pray the situation is the same this time and the new AD can make it happen.

okay, it's sunday, i don't have a lot of time to spare today ... do we have an idea of when butch will resign/fired?

One thing to keep in mind -- per bUTch's contract, the longer this plays out the less the buyout. IIRC, keeping bUTch past 10/31 saves UT $200k in buyout.

oh yeah, and one last thing:

preacherwebb's Sunday Morning Gif from God sermon notes ...

1) Select desired gif. giphy.com was recommended to me.
2) right click on gif and select copy image address
3) come back to volnation, and in the regular text box (with all the smiley faces and stuff beside it) type
4) right click in the text box and select paste to insert the image address – important note here, if what you just pasted doesn’t end in .gif, you copied the wrong thing in step 2
5) type
6) submit reply

okay, just a few things from yesterday's madness, and I gotta go.

every day this week we've been nestled in the gruden thread, hopeful, happy, anxiously expecting to hear grude news soon.
every day this week, sometime in the afternoon, we get flooded with negative news saying no grude to ut.

am i the only one that thinks this?
am i the only one that thinks this is ... weird?

here is what's happening folks.

the people that know boosters are claiming the deal is pretty much agreed to, because the boosters and back channel people have been in unofficial preliminary negotiations with gruden and his people, which he has agreed to.

the people that know a.d. folks are being told no john gruden. they can't possibly own up to all this right now. hence, all the conflicting misinformation we keep hearing about the same time every day this week plus the influx of posters with 2 weeks and 15 posts to their credit.

now when butch is gone, business will pick up, because we'll actually have an opening.
even more smokescreen until such a time gruden is announced.

like a woman having a baby, everybody is happy. no body remembers the excrutiating pain of the whole process.

currie = rock star
gruden = ut football saviour

i will say this about mitbeaver ... nobody, i don't care how clever and careful they are ... nobody can keep lying and lying and lying and lying, but what it eventually catches up to you. If he's lying (i'm not saying he is) then he'll eventually slip up, unequivocally. if not, well, we'll all have what we want.

time'll tell.

Finally, some calm, reasonable posts - got me feeling hopeful again! Based on things I've read on here, I had previously thought the hammer would drop after KY game, but now wouldn't be surprised if it's tomorrow. Then the real fun begins (DTO's reference to an exciting Tuesday).
Who first posted about Stripling as interim? (I missed it) We had been told there was some disagreement ab who should be appointed - Strip is a perfect compromise, more importantly, I doubt anyone would see him as a threat to being a permanent replacement.
PS. I think there's a significantly higher percentage of women on this board than many presume!

The most trusted insider on SECrant. Said yesterday that Gruden is not off the table and Strip would be interim when Butch is let go.

They will lose more than that by keeping him around. Lost revenue is ticket sales, UT merchandise, concessions, etc will be way worse that that 200K.

Gotta run. I'll check back after church / lunch. Final points: (1) If CBJ stays for the UK game, then everything I've heard, which isn't much and none of it was first-hand, must be rejected as incorrect. (2) IMO, continued silence from the Jon Gruden camp can only mean that, at the very least, he's interested in the job. He's a VFL; I cannot believe he would let the fan base hold out hope if he was never a serious candidate. Keep a close watch on what Gruden says. Until he says he's out, he's still in. Again, just my opinion.

Go Vols.

Kentucky is an away game. No lost ticket sales, no fan fury, and buyout decreases a bit each game, maybe thats why we keep hearing atleast through the kentucky game. ?.?.?

I was pondering this whole fiasco this morning and something has struck me as very odd. We have "insiders" popping in all over saying Gruden is hired, Gruden is off the table, giving coaches names being considered, etc, but not a single one can tell us when Butch is being let go. This seems completely backwards to me. This leads me to believe that nobody knows squat. Butch is still the coach and until he's fired I'm not gonna put stock in anything anyone is saying about a new coach. That's where I'm at and where I'm gonna stay until Butch firing is official.

Yep, seeing is believing for me.

Good morning my fellow Grudenites!

I've just caught up (again) and here are my thoughts from the overnight.

-Stripling? Bizarro world. I doubt that. Interesting that it came from someone whose rep would seriously be on the line.

- I'm fairly certain that if someone else trots in here claiming to know contract numbers that my homie, UTVolinExile's head is going to explode.

-learning that LWS gets his info from fulmer actually helped me discount it.

-At some point if Gruden is continuing to come to the table and have his demands met, and waste our time, his reputation as a professional will start to diminish. He knows this and his agent knows this.

-If everyone connected to the AD was saying the same thing I'd be more inclined to believe, but there are some claiming to get their info from there trotting out numbers.

-There is one poster on here not getting info from either camp but I believe his to be the most solid. He says nothing has changed. He might be trolling me, but I don't think so.

- My husband is starting to recognize that I'm spending all my time chatting with a bunch of men. He claims it's like him going to ladies night at a bar. Let's keep it clean-ish and straight for the duration so I can stay please!

Huh ok. 👌

True. The situation is imploding at this point though. Currie has to see this. Maybe there's a method to his madness, but what's a couple hundred thousand in the grand scheme of things when 99% of the fan base wants him gone now. It went beyond toxic last night. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost every remaining game on the schedule with Butch at the helm.

I stopped predicting days ago. I haven't heard anything. The only thing I stated as fact was that Butch is gone, and that was decided after Georgia. Everything pertaining to Gruden sounded positive, but we know how that goes. What we don't know is how many moving parts negotiations with a guy like Gruden entails. 'Bama pursuing Saban went for weeks, with multiple rejections. I've not heard anything positive or negative....I don't think anybody knows anything right now, and that is how Currie wants it. That keeps me positive.

This...

Thanks for posting.

We're talking about 10+ million dollars. I highly doubt $200k is going to be a major hangup. We're in trouble if that's the thinking. We need to stop the bleeding and getting rid of butch now is the first step.

One positive has come out of all this...the diehard Butch defenders have largely gone dark.
