I'm hopeful that MIT is an agent or lawyer and has actually seen signed contracts, hence his confidence. I'm not exactly sure what a misinformation campaign accomplishes though unless it is to deflate all Vol fans and then elate them with a Grude run hire. Or it gives the impression "we tried" and sets the stage if we end up with Bela Fleck - which would be more talent on the sidelines than we've had in awhile. I don't see the point of the misinformation campaign if we have our man. Get the Grumor mill going, get the hype train rolling and let it all explode with joy on Grude Day.

If we don't get Gruden, I seriously would be happier if we let Phil have the team back for three years, get them back to being an SEC football team, and groom a championship calibre replacement for that time.

Bela Fleck would be AWESOME. During halftime.

Let's hear it homie!

It was very short and to the point in regards to trustworthiness. It involved DTO/Boro/ and Beaver dam. Believe DTO, and Boro - run from the beavs. You ladies no what I mean, the smooth talking man that's too smooth and good with his talk. What did you do....RUN! That's what I'm rolling with this morning!!

Good morning my fellow Grudenites!

I've just caught up (again) and here are my thoughts from the overnight.

-Stripling? Bizarro world. I doubt that. Interesting that it came from someone whose rep would seriously be on the line.

- I'm fairly certain that if someone else trots in here claiming to know contract numbers that my homie, UTVolinExile's head is going to explode.

-learning that LWS gets his info from fulmer actually helped me discount it.

-At some point if Gruden is continuing to come to the table and have his demands met, and waste our time, his reputation as a professional will start to diminish. He knows this and his agent knows this.

-If everyone connected to the AD was saying the same thing I'd be more inclined to believe, but there are some claiming to get their info from there trotting out numbers.

-There is one poster on here not getting info from either camp but I believe his to be the most solid. He says nothing has changed. He might be trolling me, but I don't think so.

- My husband is starting to recognize that I'm spending all my time chatting with a bunch of men. He claims it's like him going to ladies night at a bar. Let's keep it clean-ish and straight for the duration so I can stay please!

* Stripling. Makes no sense at all. No idea who the source is, but if Stripling's name came up, it had to be because everyone else on the staff had declined the interim job. I just don't think they are at that point yet. I do think they will be there within the next 24-48 hours.

* Agree on contract numbers. I automatically put anyone who throws numbers out there in the "poser" category.

* I wouldn't underestimate Larry. He's the only one I'm aware of who has told VN exactly who he is; where he is; what he does; and his connects to UT. And it's safe to say that Fulmer knows a lot, if not all, of what's going on inside the AD.

* Agree on Gruden. I said this earlier: He has to know how crazy things are in the fan base right now, and he has to know his name is in the mix. If he was not a serious candidate, I would have expected him to come out and say something by now. His silence, to me, is a sign that he is, in fact, still in play.

* I seriously doubt if anyone here is really "connected" to the AD. LWS may be the closest. We can all make educated guesses, and yes...liquored-up boosters have been known to talk...but if there's anyone here who is really tied in to the AD, I expect that they are doing the wise thing...and staying silent. Anyone who really cares about their "E-Cred" needs to get a life.

* That being said, there are a couple of posters here who seem to be doing a good job of connecting the dots. Maybe they know something, or maybe they just have a good analytical mind, but I do watch what they say. I guess we'll know when this all plays out.

* Your husband is no fool. He knows that all men are dogs. Some dogs are just less dangerous than others. If you were an overweight male coal-miner, they would leave you alone. You're not, so forewarned is forearmed. Never give a chihuahua a stepladder; he'll try to hump a camel every time. No charge for the solid advice.

I expect the first die to get tipped over by Monday afternoon. If not, then I have completely misread this AD, and all bets are off. That's just my opinion, but the UT Football program has clearly reached critical mass, and in the words of Winston Churchill, "What must be done eventually, should be done immediately."

Y'all be safe out there. Go Vols.

This. I suspect that once this happens, we'll start to get way more reliable info on the coaching front. Until then, expect a lot of opinions and nothing more. I believe that some on here believe they are sharing legitimate info, but I think their sources are probably sharing their opinions or something they've heard they believe to be fact. Nothing is concrete until there is an official opening. Period.

I stopped predicting days ago. I haven't heard anything. The only thing I stated as fact was that Butch is gone, and that was decided after Georgia. Everything pertaining to Gruden sounded positive, but we know how that goes. What we don't know is how many moving parts negotiations with a guy like Gruden entails. 'Bama pursuing Saban went for weeks, with multiple rejections. I've not heard anything positive or negative....I don't think anybody knows anything right now, and that is how Currie wants it. That keeps me positive.
I love hearing your hope. That’s what I try to convince myself every time I get on here. I think getting rid of Butch is 1st step. I do think boosters may be talking back and forth for interest but how serious can we get because we have not officially fired Butch yet? I think Currie should ask Gruden what it would take and try to provide it to have Tennessee back where it use to be. The excitement of hiring Gruden would be my biggest since 1998. I think Gruden could be our Saban for Tennessee and we could be contending for East his 1st year. We are Tennessee and I am tired investing my time an money and being disappointed. We deserve better! Thanks Boro for keep us going. I haven’t lost complete hope yet myself and trying to convince myself that boosters new Ad, Peyton and Fulmer will get it right.

I'm just here for the fun. I'm not sure why anyone trusts or believes what anyone says on here. It's literally hearsay

I live in Toledo now, unfortunately. Matt Campbell would not be an awful hire, he did good with the rockets and now doing good with Iowa State. Still would love to see Gruden though.

I’ve been a member of this site for a very long time, back when freak would actually mail ou DVD copies of games. LWS has always been the one poster I looked for on insider info as solid as they come and the fact that people here are trying to find out what kind of toilet paper this man uses to wipe his ass, is just plain creepy.

That may be the greatest analogy of all time.

One point I feel pretty good on. 'Boro said (see above) that the decision to let Butch go was made after the UGA game. If you'd care to go back and research what I have posted, you'll find a post where I got the exact same info...from a UGA alum of all people...on the Sunday after the UGA game.

Granted, it probably didn't take an FBI profiler to figure that one out, but the exact same info from two completely different propagation paths? That, folks...was a sign from the AD's office. "Go ahead and let it slip out. Let the fan base know we're working on a new coach."

Too coincidental to be a coincidence. JMO.

Go Vols.

Maybe a day late and SIAP

Good friend on the Georgia staff

Last night I ran into a friend that’s currently on the Georgia staff. Here are some things he said:

1. Watching film, Tennessee has a lot of talent. The offense is genereric and the offensive line doesn’t attack. They thought they’d win but not 41-0.

2. Kirby is under a lot of pressure coaching his alma mater. The staff asked him to trust them this year and he has relaxed a little.

3. Bob Stoops was a guest at their practice last week. He said Bob said that there was no way he’d coach again. Said he was done and lost the passion.

4. I asked him what everybody talks about when Tennessee is discussed. He said that his players make fun of the Butchisms especially life champions. In the locker room at halftime, somebody (he wouldn’t say who) shouted let’s go finish off the life champions. How embarrassing is that???

4. I asked about the grumers. He said they obviously haven’t heard anything but thinks Kelley and patrino is definitely in the mix. He said some of the coaches said they’d be concerned a little with Gruden because of the hype on recruiting.

4. He said they are fixing to blast Florida and try to score some serious points. He said Kirby may call off the dogs if he gets to feeling sorry for Jim lol!

5. He said they didn’t watch film on Tennessee like they usually do because Tennessee doesn’t have but a hand full of plays.

6. He’s been on three staffs (1 DII, 1ACC, and 1SEC) and played on an SEC team in the mid 2000s. He said Tennessee is the worst coached team he’s ever studied. I about cried but I already knew it.

No, not in that context. But yes, when they use their Cuban Cigars smoking and Bourbon sipping golf afternoons, all the while telling us about having his BMW shipped because he spends so much time on the east and west coast. He hopes these details bolster his story. This is the philosophy I live by....If you have a good relationship with your spouse, you don't go around telling everyone about it, it just shows. Should you be smart, no need to remind everyone how smart you are, again, it just shows. If you have plenty of money, you don't tell everyone about it, they just know. I've found more often then not, all this is true!

Go Vols.

I was at the UGA game, and got to watch my dad's college roommate on the field help welcome Peyton into the college football hof.

I graduated in a highly technical field from UT. The value of my degree is directly correlated to the current perceived value of the current UT College of Engineering. The same goes for all those hall of famers on the field that day. They have the most vested interest in bringing TN football back.

I was actually just teasing but in all fairness , except for his confident way he delivered his info , he actually was just answering what was asked of him by others

Finally, some calm, reasonable posts - got me feeling hopeful again! Based on things I've read on here, I had previously thought the hammer would drop after KY game, but now wouldn't be surprised if it's tomorrow. Then the real fun begins (DTO's reference to an exciting Tuesday).
Who first posted about Stripling as interim? (I missed it) We had been told there was some disagreement ab who should be appointed - Strip is a perfect compromise, more importantly, I doubt anyone would see him as a threat to being a permanent replacement.
PS. I think there's a significantly higher percentage of women on this board than many presume!
