Usually no. But, every so often, there's that one particularly objectionable a*****e who's had it coming for so long................

"Ahhhhhhh - that really felt good!" :dance2:

I always have a clear conscience as i have done everything within my power to set expectations. I have always had at least three discussions regarding the issue(s). The only thing that sometimes weighs on me is their dependents. I have had to term an employee who I knew had children right before Thanksgiving. The act was easy, knowing the aftermath was not.

You are correct those that have it coming by being complete and utter arse holes are very easy. Luckily in the years I have been responsible for hiring and firing I have only had one that I felt nothing for while doing it. I found out later that while still employed he was arrested and later convicted of domestic violence post term.

Yes. Whatever she drags in. It's been a mix. She's bought trim, plywood, pallets, whatever she wants. We've been married 17 years so I quit fussing with her and just do it.

* I did shiplap our bed frame. It turned out really nice. She bought the wood at Lowe's and chalk painted it after I installed it.

My next project will be a small stand for two fish tanks out of pallet wood.

I've done some of that the past month. Been building coops for my daughter's chickens. I love building things, it is nice to get away from the managerial and technical duties my work demands. And the whiskey helps take the edge off of rough days like this one. Terminating people is never fun.

"Fired on Friday". That happened to me in April. I was blindsided by it and there was absolutely no warning. I'm finally going back to work this Monday. (6 months later). "Cultural Differences" was the reason I was fired. I had to Google it.

That sounds cool. I took an old solid wood door and mounted it on top of 2 cabinets today (wife's work table). That sucker weighs a ton. She's happy and we can eat at the kitchen table again

I hate that term.

I have supervised or managed probably a couple hundred people over the years. I've been present for numerous separations, but only 2 were the direct result of my recommendation to dismiss.

I, too, have run the spectrum of counseling, verbal warnings, retraining, written reprimands, unpaid suspensions, and the personal appeal "please don't leave me no choice but the next step".

I can look in the mirror, and know that I did all I could to salvage their job for them. Some of my colleagues acted like they were playing with board game pieces, but it was never something I ever took lightly.

Absolutely, I always council myself in preperation that if I every find myself enjoying the term process I need to resign immediately.

I actually enjoy counseling, the corrective process etc. I also have skin in the game because I personally interview and hire almost every one. I lost count at 30 terms but like you I can look myself and more importantly my daughter and family in the eye and say I acted with integrity.

Unfortunately I have to make the recommendation for firing and HR ultimately decides if my recommendations are warranted. They have only once turned down my recommendation and that was because they had a protected status I was not aware of. They ultimately resigned shortly after.

I also have seen too many colleagues who enjoy playing with others. I cannot respect them.

Never been fired, but I absolutely despise the fact that in this country you can be fired for pretty much anything (or nothing at all). One of the bigger injustices out there IMO that just gets glossed over.

It at least sniffs the possibility of a lawsuit.

Poor Attendance/Chronic Tardiness? No
Insubordination? No
Unsatisfactory Performance? No
Theft/Dishonesty? No
Customer/Client Dissatisfaction? No

Cultural Differences?
Ring....ring.....employment law attorney? EEOC?

What is happening?
I may regret what I am about to say but MIT Beaver has not lied and everything he has said has lined up. I was very skeptical of him earlier because he didn’t have a lot of posts and thought he was trolling but believer now. My Grudemeter is at 99.99.

What's he saying? I have been out of the loop all day and haven't had a chance to go back over the 672 pages that have gone up since I looked last.

Agreed, HR wouldn't consider that. Sounds like bad practice to me.

The current consensus seems to be that Butch has negotiated buyout that will likely go into effect/announced some time soon after Bama. Were told to watch being lines as indicator Gruden was a real option and possibly the man. Over the past two days the odds are moving to Gruden being a real option. Sources indicating the deal has been done, Gruden currently assembling his team.

And some poster learned how to post gifs. I may be missing some important info others will fill us in I'm sure.

Hey, I hope we make a great hire too, and I'm sure Mr. Beaver is a swell guy.

But what exactly has lined up? I have checked the UT official site, local media, ESPN, etc., and the only thing I see is that UT plays Alabama tomorrow in Tuscaloosa on CBS at 3:30 and Butch Jones will be the head coach.

Has somthing else been reported from an official source that I am missing?
