I think Butch wants to protect his rep as much as possible and will take a lesser buyout to leave after Bama. As pissed and jaded as I am about this season Butch could easily point to two late game near misses as the difference. We as fans remember the same issues last year and see a pattern but other AD's and fanbases might be less critical.

Thinking back through most of Butch's losses we were as competitive as we have ever been. He has to feel cursed here.

It would be good for morale, recruiting and the program if they could get to a bowl game and win. And personally, I would find the entire season less offensive if we could beat UK and Vandy. Some of the keys to doing that can be found on the bench.

I agree if they could find a way to string some wins together and finish out say 7-5 and win a bowl game it would be great for the players. I hope it happens regardless of who the coach is.

I honestly cannot see it with Butch at the helm anymore. Go back and watch the last huddle of USC game. JG mouths something off at Butch and Butch literally walks out and around the huddle and stands on the edge. I felt more sad for the guy than mad. He is a shell.

Do you think Currie has talked to players?
Are the reports true that the team is divided and have checked out on a coach that gives them the run around?Why would you risk making a bowl game with a radioactive coach?
A bowl game would mean extra practices with a new coach.

Vandy and Kentucky are very important games.

IMO, we're highly unlikely to beat UK with CBJ. Stoops is going to have UK motivated and determined to win, and CBJ is going to continue to keep playmakers we need on the bench.

He probably does feel cursed because he sure isn't gonna admit to himself that those losses were because of his poor coaching.

Yep. I think we can still get to 7-5. Won't be easy, but we have the talent. Need to make some changes, though.

He's a sissy. He's like a father who lets his kids mouth off to him all the time that does nothing about it. Instead of whipping their rear end, he tells them to sit in timeout for 5 minutes.

LAVol, what do you think is going on with the roller coaster that has been this week? Currie trying to lock down someone and allow Butch to continue coaching in the meantime with the understanding that Butch knows he is done here regardless?

Agreed.

UTs best chance at salvaging post Bama is an interim and a reset.

I ain't whipping the dude no more. Is what it is and assuming we get out now he has done more good than harm. He taught the team to fight but not win. Next coach has an easy task.

Literally in the same boat. 1-5, but every week I have someone on my bench go off and then one guy in my lineup lay an egg. 3 of my losses have been by a combined 4 points.
