Bryce Love is going to win the Heisman, isn't he?

That will be the final "LOL Butch Jones, LOL Tennessee" headline of his tenure.

If I'm Currie I wait til after Bama to insert an interim.

Starting him out against them is setting him up to fail. Interim coach is gonna get a little boost out of the team for a couple weeks but when we get down to the end of the season I think we are gonna see the team lose focus again along with the assistant coaches who start focusing on finding their next job and not the current season/team/players.

That's why I would wait as long as I could to name an interim.

The loss to Bama is baked in. We could lose by the largest point spread in program history and few would be shocked. UT isn't going to fire CBJ in outrage after Bama. That ship has sailed. We'll fire him if there's a financial reason to do so; otherwise, UT is prepared to keep taking on water into November.

Doubt it. Firing Butch gives more hope. Everyone knows its over. Plus, one of the recruiting guys that was quoted on here a few weeks ago said that we have many commitments that want to play for Tennessee but not Butch Jones.

Currie is letting us down. If Butch isn't fired after Saturday, Currie should be fired to. What is he waiting on?

I think you added "not for Butch Jones" on your own.

Callahan said they were attracted and bought into the school and program, not solely Butch Jones.

That's a massive difference. You can hop off the panic button for a couple days.

I don't know what this means... :ermm:

Before your time. Dude that posted as a housewife who wanted to learn about recruiting. Distinctive style of asking a question of individual posters with angst as a way of making a statement. Got busted and claimed “her” phone was hacked by “her” evil cousin. :) Posts as Lovemesomebigorange currently.

I'm just saying I wouldn't do it BEFORE the Alabama game. Make CBJ wear that butt whoopin. Spare the interim and give him a fresh start.

Butch may go the distance though. As long as it doesn't spiral out of control he may be here til the end.

If the commitments are all for Tennessee, be patient.

If you can Butch now and don't have a plan that can be announced, that's just as untenable a position as you have now. There will likely be attrition, but unfortunately it comes with the territory of a coaching change. The only way to avoid that is to announce the new coach at the same time and there can be a multitude of reasons why that simply can't be done.

And let's fire Currie...that screams of stability, doesn't it??

If Butch is not fired, we will not make a bowl. in fact, we may not win another game. That is on Currie. Whatever happens after Saturday is Currie's fault. In fact, I blame SC on him too. No reason Butch should have been the coach for that game and if he isn't we probably would have won. This is Currie's fault now.

Moreso if we had actually turned him down...we didn’t. You could make the point that he didn’t want to play for our coaches if that helps.

I thought we did turn him away?

Edit: It makes sense now. If he had been committed or tried to commit, it would be a bigger issue among the fans and media. Another Tahj Boyd/Bryce Petty/Patrick Willis/Randall Cobb.

probably but it appears it worked out for the better for the young man.

That Stanford line just mauls people and opens up huge holes for him. Our line.. well...

LOL! Says the guy who was arguing that we should keep Butch and would argue that 2+2=5 with anyone who is willing to listen! You would probably argue that the earth is flat to, wouldn't you? Whatever it takes to be contrarian. But I'm irrational? Okay bud.

Not disagreeing with you. The inflection point was before SCAR. That was a highly winnable game. You either make a change going into the bye and try to reshape the season or you go the other way and let it ride. IMO, if the team takes an historic beatdown at Bama, I'm not sure they bounce back to beat UK. And a UK loss sets up a losing season and escalating negativity that could domino quickly.

Currie gambled. We'll see how it pays off.

I think you both are right.

I don't think Currie really cares that much about salvaging this season. At least not in terms of winning as many games as possible. Getting as many butts in seats for Southern Miss, LSU, and Vandy will be a priority, though, and that's where the interim thing makes the most sense for him.
