A Nashville reporter Trey Wallace who somehow ive seen breaking a ton of the UF credit card scandal info earlier this AuG/Sept before anyone else on Twitter is posting that our search is going to be extremely intriguing because of the momey he's heard we are ready to spend.

Someone then asked big money or little money and he just replied brinks truck money!

Only 2 maybe 3 names demand that kind of money...IF true. Gruden, Kelly, and maybe Patterson.

He's in japan. That makes it long distance jelly. Angry jelly. Maybe when you grow up you'll have sources. Maybe even friends.

Didn't catch the edit.

FTR, I do know people who have decent connections in the AD (not amazing...wouldn't really trust anything I heard from them about a coaching search but likely would about things happening in the locker room). But I don't really bother them asking about rumors and the like. I've heard small bits in the past about things that turned out to be true. Heard stuff that turned out to not be true as well. Heard lots of reminiscing, hypotheticals, and speculation on events that happened in Knoxville years ago.

Now that I'm not living in Knoxville, I don’t hear much. Honestly, I'm glad that's the case. It's easier to look at things with impartiality that way and I prefer living in one of the largest metropolises on earth more than I did living in Knoxville. Personally, I wouldn't trade what I've got here.

What I'm really getting at here is that lots of people with connections to Knoxville/UT can play the two/three degrees of separation game with important past and present figures in our AD (even stupid nobodies like me  ). Doesn't mean everything heard should be taken as gospel.

Why is it so hard to imagine two friends wanting to work together?
Why is it so hard to imagine Blackburn overstating (or being overconfident in) his relationship with Petersen? Or Petersen potentially not wanting to work for a friend in a business where firings are semi-regular in a region of the country with so much fan and media scrutiny?

No one said he'd ever leave Boise but he did. You are using past experience to predict future events.
I'm not exactly sure what the hang up is with the bolded part. Past experience can be an indicator of what will happen in the future. That’s a big reason many don’t want Petrino.

As for people saying he'd never leave BSU, that's not really the case at all. People always said he’d be super selective about choosing somewhere to live and work.

I'm direct quotes from someone I know and trust. I put more value on that. You put more value on a Google search.
1. I don’t doubt you’ve got a friend you trust who knows Blackburn and heard those things. Doesn’t necessarily make the things he’s heard from Blackburn true or trustworthy. Surely you can understand that, right?
2. Yes, I trust the many articles published from many different sports writers from many different national outlets published over the years (which all said that Petersen doesn’t see himself living/working in the southeast) more than I trust something your friend said David Blackburn told him about Chris Petersen. You can reduce that to “trusting google” if you want to, though. Wouldn’t be the first time you’ve refused to allow any nuance into a conversation.

It's as simple as that. Also, they my friend and David are are more than just acquaintances. They are very good friends. I don't think David would lie to him

It was never my intention to say that David Blackburn was intentionally lying to your friend or anything like that. I do think it’s possible, if not likely, that Blackburn could totally believe that his friendship with Chris Petersen could be sufficient to get him to Knoxville and just be mistaken.

People misevaluate others and circumstances all the time. That doesn’t make it a lie by any means. Sometimes people have overconfidence in their abilities. Matt Hasselback and his famous “we want the ball and we’re gonna score” snafu comes to mind. But that didn’t make him a liar by any means.

Clay Travis has been calling for us to back up a dump truck full of money in front of someone's door. It's the easiest and most cost effective way to fix football. Just pay someone proven an obscene amount of money and reap the rewards. As Saban shows, you almost cannot overpay a successful football coach. He makes like 1/5th of what he should make given the revenue he generates for Alabama.

Remember him talking about the $ we spent on an elaborate juice bar but won't spend the $ for someone to bring great players to it. Talked about what better does Haslam have to spend him billions of dollars on, it's a drop in the bucket for him to spend millions.

My favorite argument from him was the call out of the uber rich boosters.

"You maybe have 20 years left to live. Buying out Butch Jones and paying a top coach's salary is a drop in the bucket to you. Isn't it worth spending a little extra money to enjoy seeing a good Tennessee football team before you die?"

Hell, he won't spend the money on the team he owns, the Browns, why the hell would he spend it own the team he just acts like he owns, the Vols? By his track record so far with the Browns, even if his spends some money, he isn't going to spend it on the right coach and/or player, apparently. Hue Jackson and Johnny Manziel come to mind. RGIII and I'm sure I could go on

Haven't really paid any attention to the Browns this year.

Is Jackson the problem with them or is the roster just still bad?
