Coaches We Have Contacted

From a very reliable source in his 40's with the last name Bailey, the AD has started contacting coaches. He wouldn't give me any big names (hinted at some), but he gave me 4 smaller ones, some of whom have already been mentioned here. I give you, in no particular order:

1. Frank Wilson
2. Jason Candle
3. Neal Brown
4. Jedd Fisch

Obviously, as with any hearsay, take it with a large grain of salt.

I'm sorry, who the hell are these people? I'll take Wilson as Recruiting Coordinator, not much of a list.

You know he is talking with agents and contacts are not made directly but you can guage interest. We know he is not talking directly to the actual sitting coach. He seems to be actually handling this correctly and that seems to bother you. He was instrumental in firing CPF and you really don't like him because of it. I get that but if he was going to wait till he actually fires CBJ to start this process then he should be fired. We will feel very good that we have our coach once an interim is named. Of course the coach could change his mind but I don't think we will ever know it.

you seriously do not understand how these things work. No Currie would not be speaking with agents at his point. Now there are likely other people not employed by UT who are speaking with agents to gauge interest. that is how these things get handled. ADs don't do that when they have a coach on staff.

I just repeated something I have heard in the last day. If you check on other sites, there are others that have also indicated they have been hearing this in the last day or so.

As I said also, I can't see Currie selling this to the big money guys who will make the decisions

Maybe but it is far from a done deal and unless you are implying Chip Kelly then I am not sure who you are referring to. Gruden is not an option and in no way, shape, or form has Kelly reached an agreement with UT

I will say this one last time that you do it thru agents. Heck, Sexton works for most of them. You call the agent and he talks to his client who calls you back. Frost has been contacted to see if he's interested THRU his agent. Agents job is to get their guy the most money and a place where they will be happy. So your AD can't be gullible (see Hart ) and must be savvy ( hopefully Currie). But it doesn't just start from scratch the day of the PC when your coach is fired unless your Alleva or Hart. Alleva only had one option that he had spoken to thru his agent who got him to Texas. Of course the agent never discussed with Herman since he was still employed by Houston. He just did it on his own and then told Herman to pack for Texas.

nothing on CBJ being gone and it is too early for any real action on a replacement. I still don't believe he is back next year but the last 24 hours there is some talk that Currie really would prefer not to have to do it this year. I think he would have a difficult time selling that line of thinking but that chatter has been out there..

I hate this. But I trust this word more than anyone on the site.

Of course he doesn't call them directly which is why I said BACKCHANNELS IN MY ORIGINAL POST. I know you would know what that means but obviously I was wrong.

Frank Wilson coached here before when Kiffin was here.

me and my GF (future wife) snuck in the stadium one night back in the mid 80s...and walked on the field....makes us about as qualified as Frank's tenure on the Hill

LWS, just out of curiosity, do you know more than you post on here? Or do you pretty much post all the info you know? I have a specific reason for asking.

Here is my original quote which has not been edited. READ THE FIRST LINE SLOWLY YOU KNOW HE IS TALKING WITH AGENTS AND CONTACTS ARE NOT MADE DIRECTLY BUY CAN CAN GUAGE INTEREST. I can see where it may not be crystal clear and I know you know how this works but to think he has not even started to see who is interested and who may be available and I know you know that is not true. I meant to put thru back channels but thought you would know that without it being spelled out. My bad for not making it clearer but maybe it was just the CPF part that hurt your feelings. But I do agree he was not treated right and I hope this AD has learned better than Hamilton his mentor. We are about to find out.

I did miss that and just saw where you continue to mention Currie or AD thinking you were saying Currie directly.. please accept my apology.

I respect anyone who brings legit info to this board (i.e. LWS)

But I see it like this. Currie better be doing something at the present moment. With the early signing period he would be absolutely insane to wait to fire butch at the end of the year and THEN start looking for a coach. Heck, he’d better start looking at a minimum of 4 weeks before the last game of the regular season to make sure he vets coaches and has time for interviews.

It is absolutely a-damn-mazing that anyone thinks they know a damn thing about what is going to happen. It's all speculation and what people want to happen. If it worked that way I would have won the lottery years ago. And not some measly 10 million. I'm talking 500 million or better. Butch will probably be here for a couple more years, but won't outlast the Gruden thread.

I have literally no inside info and I can guarantee butch won’t be here next year. Media won’t allow it

No need to apologize because like I just posted it wasn't very clear and I think we are all just disappointed in how things are being handled on the hill and we hope it will be different but probably will be the same. I will have to see it to believe it. I do think it being quiet gives me hope that we get a darn good FOOTBALL coach who can run a big program. My apologies if I came across pissed. Because I am but not at you.

Unless CBJ lays a loss on Bammer and wins out, if he is the coach next season I simply cannot watch another game.

I know...big loss...don't let the door hit ya....etc.

But seriously. This list? If this ISN'T a troll post, then the Tennessee program is in real, generational trouble.

So if we actually beat Bama and win out (which would put us into a pretty good bowl game) you wouldn't watch next year? Your hatred of CBJ is so much that if this staff and team get things figured out, you won't watch them anymore?

VFL baby.... VFL

Uh...dude....there is an unless phrase there, which indicates that there is a condition which renders the resulting phrase void. In this case, UNLESS CBJ beats Bama and wins out, if he is the coach next year......

So, no. If CBJ beats Bama and wins out I'm onboard. In any other circumstance, if CBJ is coach, I'll take a sabbatical.

I think the only certain thing is short of a miracle where this team beats Bama and goes forward with several wins that CBJ is gone one way or the other. Guy is too stressed and we used to joke about him being purple but looking at that pic and how much he has aged his personality can't handle this kind of job. I think even if he was winning it would be slowly killing him. No joking here either.

Last thing I will say. You were 100 percent right that this was going to be a bad football team this year. But not sure you thought it would be this bad.

Oh you!
Man you just go too far with the comedy.
Stop it you're splitting my side from laughter.

I never tell everything I know. Some things a person says can implicate someone and there are things I hear that I would not want to get back to UT. People there know me and I have been called in the past for things I posted on message boards. Several times. So I am careful posting things.

I did not mention the item in this thread until I saw where other people mentioned it on message boards. I then just confirmed I had been hearing it as well..
