Coaches We Have Contacted

From a very reliable source in his 40's with the last name Bailey, the AD has started contacting coaches. He wouldn't give me any big names (hinted at some), but he gave me 4 smaller ones, some of whom have already been mentioned here. I give you, in no particular order:

1. Frank Wilson
2. Jason Candle
3. Neal Brown
4. Jedd Fisch

Obviously, as with any hearsay, take it with a large grain of salt.

Seeing that I almost dont want him fired

Please note that today is October 16.....not April 1st and we're not in the mood for jokes. :nono:

LWS have you heard anything lately

nothing on CBJ being gone and it is too early for any real action on a replacement. I still don't believe he is back next year but the last 24 hours there is some talk that Currie really would prefer not to have to do it this year. I think he would have a difficult time selling that line of thinking but that chatter has been out there..

I know someone in the athletic department but he won’t ever tell me much. I finally got him to tell me the name of one guy we may go after and he mentioned Jedd Fisch. I had to look the guy up and figured he was joking. Hopefully the OP is trolling but that is a weird coincidence that he listed Jedd Fisch too.

He's incredibly well traveled. 10 different jobs since 1999 - 4 in college and 6 in the NFL. That's usually not a good sign.

Don’t post this in the Gruden thread!!

Unless CBJ lays a loss on Bammer and wins out, if he is the coach next season I simply cannot watch another game.

I know...big loss...don't let the door hit ya....etc.

But seriously. This list? If this ISN'T a troll post, then the Tennessee program is in real, generational trouble.

Are these even real people? Never heard of them

In all seriousness Wilson is the only one I’ve heard of and I don’t even know where he’s coaching today. If we don’t do better than this, I’m unfollowing every UT social media account, deleting this bookmark, burrying my orange, and becoming a TCU fan. Screw UT if this happens

This can not be correct. Two of these coaches has a losing season. And the other 2 are from smaller schools like Troy. Bad!

Knew all those names cept Candle. Googled and still don’t. FWIW Fisch is a more accomplished candidate than Tee.

I knowu have more insight than most but if this is true, this will be a very unhappy fan base. Plus he'll have a 30-40 rated recruiting class..could set program back even further. Currie may not wanna do this but he may have to

I highly doubt John Currie has begun contacting any coach anywhere. He has a football coach and it would be highly unethical for him to be talking to coaches who were employed at other institutions. His name would be mud all over the college football landscape.

Do not believe this is happening.

You know he is talking with agents and contacts are not made directly but you can guage interest. We know he is not talking directly to the actual sitting coach. He seems to be actually handling this correctly and that seems to bother you. He was instrumental in firing CPF and you really don't like him because of it. I get that but if he was going to wait till he actually fires CBJ to start this process then he should be fired. We will feel very good that we have our coach once an interim is named. Of course the coach could change his mind but I don't think we will ever know it.

I respect the information you bring to the board however I do not believe that Currie would even think of bringing Butch back next year after this season. Vols will finish sub 500 if he coached the remainder of the season. Currie would be risking his own future.

Well, we hired Hamilton’s protege’. We knew this might be an option.

Cheapass Hammy who had to make a business decision; instead of a football decision. Guy needed to be runnin a non-prof not a D1 program.

Top 3 guys are bottom tier guys. They're not ready to make the jump, but if you strike out with your other tiers they're not terrible back up plans. Still either of those 3 would be WAAAAAAY better than the Dooley hire.

The last guy...now I know you're trolling.

Also Neal Brown is the best of the bunch and doesn't get enough credit. Yes he beat an overrated LSU, but the man knows how to coach and he'd be a steal. Frank is an ace recruiter as well, so he's not a bad choice if we get turned down by everyone else....

If we're going to gamble on those guys, then we might as well gamble on Matt Campbell.

If this is even remotely true or reliable, and by remotely, I mean even within our solar system of possibility....

I am going to drink a case of bush ice and go lay in the middle of the highway.

Busch Ice. As a beer drinker, my earnest plea is to skip to the middle of the road thing. No need to torture yourself with that swill...lol.

Yep. I’m sure Currie has just been strolling around the Athletic Department from cubicle to cubicle, talking to alalysts, sipping on coffee and throwing out names.

“Htheeeeerp.... what about Frank Wilson?”

“Htheeeeerp”

“I don’t know what to do. Jedd Fisch?”

Sorry. You and OP or you and OPs “sources” are FOS.

You may not agree with what LWS is saying but it is the truth. Whoever is telling you that a coach is lined up or an agreement has been reached in principle is nonsense. There has not been a final decision made on CBJ and the notion that he has been informed yet is still coaching is a fantasy. An AD would not fire a coach then expect him to stay on the staff

All fine coaches in their tier and Fisch is
respectable OC, but no thank you.
We've all seen this movie before.
