So just to make sure I’m up to speed:

1. Dudes who trolled everyone with Gruden 5 years ago continue to do so, and everyone is drinking it up

2. Random posters from across the earth suddenly are insiders and are sources we quote

3. LWS who is always spot on with what is happening speaks not a word of Gruden, and is universally panned by the board.

I’m I on the right track?

It was real.

Currie will always be remembered by Tennessee fans if he can hire Gruden

He definitely seems to be taking a fan-friendly approach to his job. See: Lady Vols.

Which is why I could see this part of the quote Ron shared as being consistent with that.

-Currie is obsessed with hiring Gruden. He is going to do things differently than Hammy or Hart

From one of the posters who heard Gruden is putting feelers out to possible staff members just shared this...

Not going to fall for it not going to fall for it not going to fall for it
Not going to fall for it not going to fall for it not going to fall for it
Not going to fall for it not going to fall for it not going to fall for it

Other than the bolded part, yes.

Larry's been really hit and miss for a while now. His recent posts are largely opinions.

That's so detailed that it's hard to believe it's just straight up fake info/trolling.

I think there's enough smoke around this to believe that Currie is legitimately going hard after Gruden with Peyton and Fulmer backing him.

My worry is that Gruden will get cold feet and back out due to fear of failure. Right now everyone loves him because he's the somewhat eccentric football genius who won a Super Bowl, and his potential is still untapped and bottled up somewhere. But if he fails--and to him that might mean anything less than a National Championship by year 4-5--his legacy is tarnished.

Can he handle the NCAA issues? Can he relate to college kids? Can he recruit? Is he actually prepared for the grind of coaching--not just watching film obsessively by himself? Can he go toe-to-toe with Nick Saban, or will the fans be calling for his head in 5 years if he's 0-5 against Alabama?

If I'm Currie, I assuage all of those fears by telling him he has the keys to put together his ultimate dream staff. If you're already going for Gruden and his demands, you might as well go all the way. Let him pick and choose top NFL and college assistants and get rolling.

I would also assure him that any "rustiness" in coaching wouldn't be evident, because he would know more about football than probably all but perhaps 3-4 coaches in FBS, would easily coach circles around the pathetic East, and recruiting would be easy because he's f'n Jon Gruden and would rival Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, and Jim Harbaugh for being the most famous and recognizable coach in CFB day one.

He worked for AL DAVIS!

I said this 2 years ago heading into the draft.

He's a scrub like every other Alabama RB in the NFL.

His upside has always been about like Brandon Jacobs. Probably needs to be paired with a smaller faster guy to ever be really effective.

The Titans' game plan under the current staff is basically to pound the rock until they can wear a team down later in the game and start running them over. Means the RBs often have bad stats for 2-3 quarters and get some chunk yards later in the game. Also means that if they can't keep the game close or get a lead early the RBs are gonna finish with a bad stat line.
