Brohm May Be Running at Tennessee

Brohm's buyout is only $4M...

If UT Hires Brohm I can live with it but the problem is over the last decade UT has made some poor hires. Kiffin was a disaster, Dooley was beyond a disaster, and now CBJ is falling apart right before our eyes. We need as close to a sure thing as possible when the next coach is hired. Swing for the fences if you are the AD imo.

They could also be flashes in the pan. UT can be elevated or ruined for the next 10-20 years with this hire. Why won't they consider aiming for the highest level? Make all the proven winners turn you down before bargain shopping.

I have no problem with that argument. If we could get Pattersen/Petersen or Shaw I would take them in a heartbeat. But I would rather have Brohm or Campbell than A Les Miles type.

Shaw and Peterson aren't leaving their respective schools so we can move on from their names, imo.

I completely agree. Just making peace with those who want to aim high before going after a Campbell, Brohm, or Doeren type.

Dino Babers gets my vote. Great guy, great offense, great recruiter. I know he went 4-8 last year and he was/is another MAC guy but I think there are many factors that will make him a great coach. Someone in the P5 will be scooping him up this season

Maybe Muschamp is available now. If we had hired him, we could have 2 wins against SC and 4 against Florida that we don't have now.

Agree.
Does more with inferior talent. Take all those Syracuse 2 stars and make them 4 star players at UT...watch out. Of course it will not happen.
Brohm is Dooley on Red Bull.

For those who say they wouldn't want a guy who would leave after one year. Would you rather have a guy who spent the 2nd season checked out mentally because his mind is somewhere else? If the guy can find a school willing to pay the buyout and he doesn't do anything shady (like the events in January 2010), then alls fair.

Just can't see him leaving Purdue after only 1 year. His buyout is $5M if he leaves before December 5th. $4M afterwards. I think he's going to wait out Louisville in a couple of years. Petrino is $4.25M. But we don't have to pay any buyout to Miles or Kelly. Follow the $$$.

Bonuses, buyout details revealed in Brohm's Purdue contract

I just wonder if someone is angling for a raise/extension from Purdue. You know leading candidate, but I really like it here, but I would love it with more money.

Theres a reason his buyout is 4MIL after this year. 4MIL is chump change for a big university.

He may vie for an extension to increase his buyout, but I think he genuinely wants to move onto to a bigger football program.

He's not an up and comer dammit!! lol He's a Power 5 head coach who is about to win 8 games in the nation's toughest conference. Who would have thought PURDUE, who won 3 games last year, would go 8-4 and manage to not get blown out by anybody? This is James Franklin type stuff we're seeing.

I think he’s a diamond in the rough! Anyone not happy with this guy would be sadly mistaken

Brohm is a very good coach with an outstanding background. I would be happy with his hire if the Big 2 fall through. I would prefer him over Petrino...same offense, wayyyyy less baggage.

Would obviously prefer to get someone like Petersen, Patterson, Gruden, or Kelly... but I'm not sure any of those are realistic. Brohm leads the 2nd tier for me.

I have no second tier. Either we get Gruden, Kelly, Franklin, Patterson, Peterson or Petrino or we join the Sun Belt Conference. Our trustees and big donors should care more about winning championships than their egos. Why is this so hard?

My biggest worry would be if he got an offer from Louisville in a few years. Would he go home. Hard to turn down a job from your school
