Recruiting Forum Talk XXXIX

A couple "respected" posters got info today that they can't share but it appears positive. Something about Cindy Gruden's cousin sharing some info. And Peyton is involved in negotiations with Gruden.

Real whirlwind.

as much as I want Gruden, Cindy Gruden cousin does not post on volnation. come on guy thats not reality

Kaepernick suing the NFL for conspiracy to keep him out.

Good luck with that.

That would be ridiculously hard to prove would’t it?

He’s good enough to at least be a #2 somewhere, sure. And I guess his politics are tangentially related to him not being picked up.

But nobody will hire him because of the backlash from fans, not because the owners or the league dislike his politics, per se.

I'm still on the ropes about a lot of these receivers. There's a couple of still shots from the last pass yesterday. JG threw a perfect pass and surprise, surprise, another drop. That was the most catchable incompletion all year and it was dropped. With the game on the line. That's why our coaches have no faith in our receivers.

why everybody saying Brandon dropped that ball? .. when he broke that route he supposed to have threw it..Brandon didn't have much room to work in that corner that was tight ass window..jg deserve blame as well on that play..its all about timing he should have been through that ball..he looked at Brandon the whole way the defender knew he was coming to Brandon..that was a pick play by callaway..pretty good call, but the ball should have been thrown earlier..when Brandon broke on the route he should have led Brandon to the spot he threw it at..

I don’t, really. I often say that a fat buyout doesn’t ease the pain of failing at what you’ve tried so hard to achieve

He’s been away for a decade. One might think if he was that hot to coach again, he would be in the game already. Could be wrong... gotta show me though

I don't think he wants to coach just to be coaching. I think he wants to coach for the winning. He's not going to take a job just to be a coach which is why college may be more attractive than the NFL. You need a team to win, a team like Saban's. Every year you can recruit 10 new first round draft picks. You can't do that in the NFL. The NFL penalizes you in the new talent department if you are successful on the field. I think I also understand the conrol issues from personal experience. I don't think he is trying to avoid accountability; I think he wants to avoid interference from those who want things done their way. All this to say, I think he wants to coach but he wants a situation like Saban's - where he calls the shots, not some boosters and not some owner/GM. Given his present success financially, he can pick and choose. I think Tennessee is his dream job if he can make it happen on his terms.

If Hart had agreed to his terms in 2012 we might right now be contending for our 3rd national championship in a row, he would be in year 5 of his tenure here, and Bama fans would be dreading our arrival in Tuscaloosa this weekend.

All this is just my opinion. I could be misreading everything but maybe not. Like you say. We'll have to wait and see.

Soon. :)

We get it, your nephew has never made a mistake on the gridiron 🙄

Throw wasn’t perfect, but it hit him in the hands. I wouldn’t put all the blame on Johnson by any means, because it would’ve been a difficult catch and the defender was all over him. But if the ball hits a WR in the hands and he can’t hang on, it’s at least a little bit his fault.

Why did Butch give that quote? I would like context. Awkward for him to make that statement.

Ill give you the context. Butch's response of

[twitter]https://twitter.com/wesrucker247/status/919312197502763009[/twitter]

Was in response to a question asked by this guy right here.

The local media knows it’s time

It was a two part question where Jesse asked Butch first, if they thought about running Kelly on that end-game goal line situation, and second, if last week was Butch's best bye week at UT and they got so much better as a team, why did they lose tonight?

The press room was ****ing tense. All of the capillaries in Butch's face went into maximum overdrive as he angrily asked if USC was a good team. The room was silent for a bit before he continued.

Mock, do you think Butch actually believes the crap like that he spouts off? Or do you think he’s really just trying that desperately to spin things?

I got lost and posted this in a thread in the FF without realizing where I was but I found this article for you guys. I've done my homework on Gruden, Patterson, and Brohm, and have been working on Frost. My strategy is to follow the wisdom of "if you eliminate the impossible whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth" to try to project who our next coach will be. Right now I've got Gruden at 10%, Patterson at 2%, Brohm at 12%, Frost at 20%. I'm looking to see if there's someone out there that would be in the 50/50 range based on my subjective assessment. I don't think any of us can do better than that at this point.

There's more to the article at this link:

Why not every Nebraska Cornhuskers fan in Lincoln is pining for Scott Frost

Solid STVI quote.

Your nephew is a good WR and I think it’ll be fun to see him next year with better coaching. Tell Brandon to keep his head up, VN is behind him.

Lol if Butch is back next season we might as well burn it all to the ground. What's the word on this cousin of Cindy Gruden? Posted some things on TOS.

How many championships has he won? I'll wait.

I’ll say this: Petrino (at least at Arkansas) performed significantly above talent expectations. If memory serves, and I haven’t looked at my numbers in awhile, he was two standard deviations above talent expectations. To put that in perspective, he was winning games he shouldn’t at the rate that Dooley was losing games he shouldn’t.

What kept him out of championships is his recruiting. Even if you are significantly out performing your talent, and he was, it is unprecedented for a team that has a four year trailing average outside around the top twenty to even play for a championship. There is a very real ceiling and floor to what aggregated talent allows. I think he had Arkansas in the mid 40s.

If he could recruit to UT in the top 15 (and I sincerely doubt he could or would) you’d potentially have something magical.

Um...because the ball flew directly into his outstretched hands? Weird how its everyone's fault but Brandon's.
