Recruiting Discussion

Well he’s not targeting 5* so he’s not gonna land them.

I want us to get more in that top 30-100 range. And I want to see him target some players and then go land them and not just get what’s left or fill up with transfers and spring signees. Looks like he’s stepped it up as of late and may have found a new route with these foreign players. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, I guess I should not limit it to 5 star players, but certainly top players that Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina etc would want might be better way of putting it. I mean I am just talking about him not getting 1 since he has been here.

I do expect to Land some top 50 players down the road. You’re building a good foundation, and you have to continue building with the more “nationally known” players:

We will see if these 3 star players compare to J.K. and Cam Sutton.

Do not get me wrong there are 4 and 5 star players that do not pan out too, but to still not have gotten one 5 star player is disappointing imo.

😂 you act like we haven't seen any of our 3 stars pan out yet. Our best player on the team last year was a 3 star freshman kinda like, oh idk, Cam Sutton. I'm all for criticizing recruiting, we all think it needs to be better, but to act like we haven't seen any evidence to support that our 3 star talent has not compared to those two in football is ignorant. The other extreme of the argument would be ignorant as well, but come on man.

I hear what your saying too, but if he's referring to making it to the next level 3* talent, that IS kinda tbd. To me, Fulk in a small sample, fits that bill.(if he can find a jump shot) But GW is just undersized.

That would be his last OV, correct?

Yup.

Good news is he didn't commit on his visit to Gonzaga, hopefully we also don't hear of an upcoming decision in next couple days. That obviously doesn't mean he won't pick Gonzaga but at least gives the impression he's still somewhat undecided and still open. Also a good sign we haven't heard of any other OV's scheduled yet for Tennessee.

Agreed on no other OVs for us but let's be honest this staff rarely has that info leak.

Hope you are onto something though

I'm not worried if Petrusev passes. It's a single spot to fill and it should be a very desirable option for a top player. The supporting cast is in place... not a lot of competition for playing time long term. The only draw back that I see is the uncertainty of whether TN makes the NCAAT field. If Petrusev doesn't bite another good one will.

If they miss on Petrusev they need to hold the spot into the spring and hope that a good season will catch the interest of some talented guys.

Seemingly there has been a few we didn't hear about with much more than a week notice. You know this staff keeps things quit.

They definitely tend to keep who they're evaluating/visiting quiet...but to the best of my recollection we've always had a heads up on scheduled OV's, maybe I'm mistaken.

I could be as well. Obviously Pons but I don't recall a long wait on the OV when we first learned about Kent last fall either

There might could be a boat load of graduate transfers after the FBI findings hit the fan. I do want a freshman though... classes are still out of balance and another senior won't help with that.
