Questioned Wells, but quickly dismissed because of media hype recruiting prowess and energy.

Did not like Scott at OC

Did not like Canales, optimistic based on practice reports

Neutral on Beard. Thought youth and energy + playing experience would be pluses, especially in recruiting

How bout you?
No strong opinion on Beard. Otherwise, felt like '12.

He's probably right. Haven't scored a TD since UMASS. We only scored 17 on UMASS, the following week they gave up 58 to Ohio University. Could only find a way to get 9 points on a bad USC team yesterday, 3 fg's. Our offense is really really bad.

He turned the QB loose on the last drive. We moved the ball with ease too. Coaching in a box is the reason he's going to be fired. I've never seen a coach run a spread offense and be conservative. Just DUMB football.

Got to love the innocence of a child. My 5 year old insisted on wearing his Columbia TN shirt to church. He doesn't know about all this crap going on, he just loves the Vols. Come on Currie, don't screw this up. Pretty soon he will know what's going on.

Butch by nature does not truly coach to win. He overthinks everything. He does not have the instincts to be a great coach. I dont fault his work ethic and effort. He recruits well.
Sadly the best staff he had was his first one. They did more for player development those first two years with Dools players than the all star staff has done with Butch's players.
Currie will not make a move publicly until he has a guy in place to take the job.

Beard catches hell on here but we don't run anything to help them out. Quick slants and WR screens would help out a lot. We were running long patterns versus off coverage all yesterday. And only doing it on passing downs. WRs won't win when the DBs are already sitting back waiting on posts and "9" routes.

Yes or No

Will the Vols score an offensive touchdown in October? Haven't so far and doubt they will against red team. Comes down to the UK game and the offense I saw yesterday leads me to believe it is highly doubtful.

If they turn the QB loose we'll score at least one next week. The talent isn't garbage. Even the commentators say it. We aren't playing good football.

I’m not buying this excuse at all. Butch may limit Scott’s playcalls, but I doubt he’s making him use formations so predictably.

Scott just isn’t cut out to be an OC at this level.

There’s nothing predictable about our formations. We’ve done more motion, power sets, stack sets than we have the whole time butch has been here.

Typically.

There is one person that has his ear more so than others.

Just hope they make a good choice and that choice is willing.
I do my best to stay even tempered under all situations but dammit, I love college football and I'm sick of looking up from the bottom.

Since when did Kentucky’s defense become elite or even average for that matter? If an interim is coaching, there will be some new life for these players. Also, the coordinators will have the handcuffs taken off and can probably do some things they haven’t been able to do with Butch in control.

I know the offensive line wasn’t good at times yesterday, but there were plenty of times that they gave JG tons of time to throw, and he couldn’t get rid of the ball. Of course, a lot of that is because the wide receivers are not getting open. It is certainly hard to blame them that we cannot run the ball in the second half, when South Carolina was stacking the box and run blitzing frequently. The other thing that I noticed in the second half is JG did not keep the ball on the read option any. There were a few times that he had open area to run.

I think our WR can't get open because our route combinations suck and our offense has zero imagination. Why couldn't we give JG some plays to get easy completions like EVERY competent coach in the world does with a young QB?

Also, I don't think they were running very much read option. Looked like pretty much everything was just a straight give. And SC knew it too, which is maddening to me.

Watching Hubbs' show this morning. He doesn't think TN has enough offense to beat anyone left of the schedule.

We certainly don't when some of our best playmakers are standing on the sidelines or not getting touches.

I didn't see the show. Did Hubbs speak candidly about the coaching or the locker room? I'm guessing probably not?

Meanwhile, USCe killed us on the TD drive with Bentley gaining a couple first downs off the read option.

Apparently beard isn't even coaching them

This is just wrong. He basically telegraphs pass or run by personnel groupings and formations. It’s BADDDDD.

Go and watch videos of when Scott was interim at Miami. Offense and scheme is night and day

Scott was a TE coach and interim HC. He was never an OC. He wasn’t the placaller. He doesn’t even have his own scheme.

And then Butch coached scared the second half, played Jumper too much, and frittered away glory. I thought at the time maybe it was our depth. But looking back, I see it was the coaching.

Yeah in retrospect the pattern is hard to deny. My thinking is shifting about the 2015 OU game as well.
