The Grim Reaper of Tennessee Football opined about an hour or so ago that he believes the earliest Butch would be let go is around Halloween.

Also says to not expect a new coach until after SECCG weekend.

The more I think about this, the more I agree with a quote on this tweet. Freshman quarterback upset after his first start and a quarterback from SC has to give him encouragement. (not our own team or coach??)

Wolfe came over and picked him up. I saw another shot of Wolfe later- he looked like he was showing good senior leadership.

Don't know how to make a Twitter link, but... JG had a lot on him. Liked the sportsmanship here.

I’m really liking this kid. He showed some maturity and moxie today. Butch threw him out in some sorta last ditch effort to save his job which was really unfair to him. But he hasn’t really been treated fairly this year.

My give a damn is busted.

Always get the sense that Larry loves this stuff. He knows his reputation and enjoys it.

When Butch is finally fired he'll have us thinking the search is between Mike Bobo, Mike Houston, and Mike Canales.

Never wish for a loss, but if you believe Butch is not the guy to bring Tennessee back to an elite level, today went ok. Defense held SC to 15 points, JG showed glimpses, and we found a consistent kicker. OL still struggling, DL got beat a lot in 2nd half, and play calling on offense is still rough. It is what it is. Losses suck, but it’s one more step out the door for Butch.

JMO, but I’d bet Butch lasts this week. Don’t send an interim to Bama. I think we all know he won’t make it to next season. If we show no fight in T-Town, fire him the next day.

I would have fired Butch at halftime. Fulmer was right there. He could have coached the second half.

Makes zero sense to wait.

When a decision is so obvious to everyone it makes no sense not to go ahead and make it. What do we gain by waiting?

Tennessee will not win another game coached by Butch Jones.

Flailed at the DC hire. Swore Chizik was a done deal. Blamed wrong call on being out of town. :)

He loves it because it is easy for him to be right these last ten years.

Guess he missed out on the Vols gossip at Floyd's barbershop on Monday morning. Too bad there's not a way to stay connected with people via voice or the written word when you're away from home!

Please just quit with Fulmer as the interim coach. It's not happening. Hoke will probably be the interim

The decision to fire Fulmer was made after Alabama in 08. He was officially fired after South Carolina.

I believe the decision on Butch was made after Georgia. Let's see if they pull the trigger this week.

I know it's not an optimal situation for the athletic department but each week with Butch Jones as head coach is just a waste of practice and game experience for these young players. They need to develop and they will not under a lame duck coach.

The uncertainty creates a distraction that keeps the team divided and unfocused. The players are wondering what's going to happen, when and what it means for them. It costs UT the same amount whether CBJ coaches another day or is relieved of his duties tonight. Once the decision is made, it would be better for the team and players if UT would go ahead and execute it.
