False! He left Texas much worse than it was when he arrive there. If Tennessee is stupid enough to let Butch go, whenever would replace would have a lot of talent to work with except maybe at QB and that position would be Better if the QBs currently committed sign for next year.

Maybe by Year Six, Butch will come up with a short yardage offense, learn to adapt to his personnel, and stop being an annoying fool in press conferences.

You clearly no nothing about football if you don’t understand the situation he had at Texas.

First of all, you clearly don't know the difference between no and know and 2nd of all I don't care what his situation was at Texas. I do KNOW that he didn't win on the field and I still don't want him at Tn.

Coaching may be suspect but the man can pull off a cowboy hat ensemble like no one else since Cleavon Little.

No to Charlie Strong.

He's a football coach, not a program leader. We need a program leader who also happens to be a great coach.

They had top rated classes all the way to the end of Brown’s time. Usually committed a year early. The culture and fundamentals were stagnant...like the end of Fulmer’s tenure, but the roster was littered with high school All-Americans. You have your anti-Butch goggles on to say Dooley left a better mess.

Then why did half of those “all Americans” wind up leaving within the first 12 months?

If it came to us and Ole Miss could and would the Rebels be willing to outbid us for him?

I could see them being willing to anti-up more than us if they have the means as they need an image makeover with their next coaching hire 10x more than us.

Sure they would. Their biggest need going into the next 2-3 years will be recruiting while under sanctions. Strong can easily do that. He also makes sense for them as their defense is awful.

Because Strong wanted to make a statement? Coaching decision. And you don’t have to “quote” them. They were legit high school All-Americans.

The stupidest move by our AD was not giving the guy whatever he wanted to come here in 2013.

Do you honestly believe Strong would do better than Chip Kelly, Gruden, Gary Patterson, Chris Peterson, etc..?

Hell I'm not even convinced Strong deserves to be mentioned with those coaches. Wayyy overhyped by your standards buddy.

I never said that. What I’ve made very clear is that if Chip and others turned us down and we were on our 4th or 5th guy, he’s worth a look. Especially if he goes 12-0 with USF and crashes the top 5-6 rankings. I would definitely want him over Les Miles if it got to that point. He would fix our defense immediately and the guy has it out for the Gators due to burnt over him because of his marriage. He’s definitely hungry. He also develops players. Basically, if Chip and other tell us no, he’s be worth going after if he winds up 12-0 in his first year at USF. Biggest mistake of the Hart era was not offering more money when Strong went back to UL.

The only concern I have with Strong is his OC Hire History. His coaching philosophy wasn’t suited for Big 12 ball. However, you’d be a fool to turn down the Texas job. Even with the issues that came with it in form of AD and booster sh!tshow.

He would definitely be a better hire than Morris, Brohm, and other mid major/coordinator names that are being thrown out there.

And don’t be foolish, Patterson and Petersen aren’t leaving their current gigs. Doesn’t matter if I want them over Strong or vice versa.

Texas job was worse condition than Tennessee. He also was constantly having to deflect half the boosters from day 1. We could do much worse than Strong. He has it out vs Florida and can recruit South Florida Better than anyone. My only concern is his history of OC hires.

Please stop. The guy is right. If he couldn't win at Texas he never would here.

Am I the only one who knows nothing about this supposedly problematic marriage of Strong'?

Came up when he turned us down. Unless you’re talking about the mini-scandal with the Louisville trustees wife?

I know about the thing with Tracy Blue in Louisville. What is the other issue? I don't remember hearing about it.

Wife is white. That’s about it. Hardly an issue but it got brought up a lot.
