Thanks for that info. I am trying to help my better half transition to a more manageable caliber without feeling underpowered. I am kind of tall and lanky and can put a government model a lot of places on my body. I think I oversold her on the .45 acp cartridge.
I think we're gonna keep this around a thousand bucks. Nice gun though.
Actually owned by Cerebus Capital under the "Freedom Group" name and also owns Advanced Armament, Marlin, H & R, Dakota Arms, Para USA, Tapco and Barnes.
But Remington of today isn't what it was years ago. My response was tongue in cheek and I hope you enjoy your soda can plinker for the 600 rounds it will last before you ask me what's wrong with it and I remind you "well, Septic, you bought a DPMS."
FTR, I wouldn't buy a Colt these days either even if it is the "industry standard." Either I build it or buy BCM.
I would point at my finely crafted 1911 and turn my nose up at your blocky marvel of German engineering with the most horrid trigger ever made for mankind while reminding you 'Murica won WWII and German guns were the losers.
Laughing. You know your stuff, and humble about it you are not. I can respect that. BTW, good advice on my AR. I'm back behind the stock, and I absolutely love the PRO.
Funny that I have a RI compact 1911, and a Glock 30S. Love that big chunk of metal that will ring bells at 50yds all day long, and also fond of 10 rounds in about the same size and half the weight. The key to loving a Glock is an aftermarket drop-in single-stage trigger. Do it right, and you're sold on them.
You're a class act, GV. Thanks for the good advice, and always being a good read.
Go Vols!
Meh, I'm just yanking Septic's chain. Right now, the AR market is crazy with deals right and left. I can't blame anyone for getting a Bushy or DPMS for that price. The real scores at the moment is ammo and accessories. Mags deals come out practically every week from reputable manufacturers. If anyone is looking to take the AR plunge, now is the time.
I owned a USP45 at one point. Good pistol, but utterly horrible trigger like most of the H&K brand. The VP9 is probably the first pistol in recent memory that has a socially acceptable trigger.
Looks sweet. Since this is not for me, I think we're going to have to test drive some stuff insofar as possible. She currently has a Colt Defender .45 ACP. She likes the size but not the recoil. I don't like it because my pinky finger hangs off in space and as long as I have a pinky finger I'd like to use it. Also, it's a bit of a pain to reassemble after breakdown and, since I am the person who usually does the cleaning, I'm trying to steer away from a 9mm Defender.

Grand, or any of you guys that may know, is there an upper that can use a standard 556 lower with some kind of mag conversion to use 9mm?

My dad is building a 9mm ar starting with this.http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-glock-9mm-complete-classic-lower.html
This gets me closer. I don't care for carry handle uppers though. Thanks, I need to research some of those required parts as well.
