Well,****.

Hmmm

So Rob Lewis talks to the kid who names Vols his clear cut leader, says he may visit Utah, Virginia and/or Maryland and then 30 minutes later we hear Gonzaga has a lot of momentum? Interesting.

Kid seems to be all over the place.
Unless Vandy pulled the offer I don't get why he didn't visit them.

Gonna be interested to see what comes out tomorrow...nobody has talked directly to Petrusev himself except for Rob Lewis. He says Petrusev himself says Vols are clear leader and he may or may not take any visits, lists some schools none of which are Zags. Then an hour later or so we hear that Gonzaga has momentum with the kid? Keep in mind Petrusev isn't even back to his school in Florida yet, so doubtful he's talked much to anyone.

Speculation on my part but Grant Ramey stayed one of Montverde's assistants is handling the discussions about his recruitment...in thinking maybe Zags called and trying to set up an OV and word got out that way without Petrusev even knowing or being back yet. Definitely a lot of confusion, but his parents came from Serbia for this visit to Knoxville and are heading back and won't be joining him for any other OV's...so there's that.

3 CBs, not 4. 2 from Duke guys, and 1 from tOSU guy. None of which have likely spoken to him. I'd be surprised if there is anything to this.

Someone on another board made a good point, Gonzaga brand is undoubtedly much better than Tennessee currently. If a guy like Andrew Slater (1 of big 3 working for 247) gets word that Gonzaga is trying to set up an OV, or that one of the kids assistants is gonna try to get him to visit, it's pretty natural for them to automatically dismiss Tennessee and think Gonzaga is clear favorite...especially since 247 rewards these guys for being first with their predictions. It may be legit, but it's hard to think if changed that much in an hour based on what the kid was telling Rob Lewis.

Do we possibly have a Chuck Person wannabe on the staff who might make the kid an offer he can't refuse?

“Right now, after my visit, Tennessee is my leader,” he said. “I still may take some other visits though, I’m not sure right now. I’m going to go back and think about everything, talk with my family and by Wednesday will probably decide if I’m ready to make a decision or if I want to see a few other schools.”

Tommy Lloyd (GU Associate Head Coach and the man responsible for International recruiting) has long maintained that the general public knows about 5 percent of what’s really going on vis a vis recruiting.

One thing I DO know is they probably aren’t strangers as Gonzaga is actively recruiting one of Peyrosev’s teammates.

Fwiw my personal belief is that it’s a good sign for UT that the kid’s parents came for the Knoxville visit. GoZags

PS. Had a great time in Nashville last season at the Battle on Broadway.

You put zero weight on family coming from Serbia to join him on an OV to Tennessee and nowhere else?

I put a lot of weight into that. I am just betting he has told he has this week to pull the trigger or we move on to the next guy.
His comments sound that way to me

Are you referring to Nembhard?

Ah I gotcha. With just 1 spot open they shouldn't just take anyone...if they don't have a good option available and Petrusev goes elsewhere I would hold out til spring.

Florida bound no?

Could be. Too early to tell. Nembhard will visit GU this weekend for Kraziness in the Kennel (the debut of the ‘17/‘18 Zags).

FWIW Gonzaga has a pretty good track record of it’s recent Canadian graduates going to the NBA. (Okynyk, Wiltjer, Sacre not so recent)

Gotcha, seems like I had read somewhere Gators were the overwhelming favorite for him, maybe not.

They are the perceived favorite, but like Zags said, the public doesn't really know a lot of what goes on. Gonzaga has a nice track record with international players, so I'd say that they have to be an attractive option, as well as their annual success.

I still hope Petrusev picks Tennessee. He is extremely versatile and gives us another tall player that can play multiple positions.

I was thinking I had read an article with quotes from the kid but I could be mistaken...yes, Tennessee needs to find a way to land Petrusev, losing him would hurt.

Not having seen video of Petrusev, he kind of sounds like a lesser version of Dirk Nowitzki. Is Petrusev at all like Nowitzki... tall, skinny, very good on the perimeter?
