Shy Tuttle injury

If any of this is 50% accurate, I'm tickled to death we have a kid like NW that can kick Tuttle's donkey around, harness that shiznit and get it on the field!! If Tuttle got his butt kicked he needs to go look in the mirror and ask why as a SEC DT who's supposed to be one of the most fearsome beings on planet Earth got his rearend kicked by a relatively scrawny DB. Lawsuits??? WTH, would you want to go into court and cry in front of a judge about how a kid who you have 50 to 75 pounds on kicked your axx? Tuttle needs to man up this coming weekend and go berserk or be a laughing stock of the SEC IMO.

there was no helmet involved. Tuttle started with a verbal altercation. I don't know who started the physical part but both were physical, it was a fight after a verbal spat. NW got the better of the fight. It didn't happen on the practice field.. off the field.

Shy is a 21 year old adult. He might get advice from family but they can't do anything, just Shy.

These fights happen a lot when two team mates get into disagreements. I've never heard of one being a legal thing

This is part of the problem. The coach tries to gloss over the situation and even he said there was a helmet involved. People come on here and other places claiming to know inside info and tells a different story. Therefore, someone is out and out wrong or lying.

When a team is struggling to barely beat cupcakes and there are rumors about dissension on the team, trying to cover up an incident such as this or explain something away by lying and misleading isn't going to help.

Lying, whining and complaining to and about the media is not the answer and he should know that by now. He needs to learn to say "There was an altercation between two players that let their emotions get the best of them. It is a team issue and will be handled as such. Next question." Or he could just simply say, "what, if anything, happened is a team issue and I have no comment on it." Instead he tries to play the media and fans as fools which only adds fuel to the dumpster fire.

Jones has access to resources to help him with the PR aspect if he would utilize them. He needs to realize the media is not his PR department.

Not knowing anymore detail than I do, I can't yet pin this on Butch losing the team....and I would if I could.

I'll tell you why....my son plays for a local D-III program. Three players got into a scuffle at an off campus party, two ended up with black eyes. They squared it...everything got smoothed over. Once the coach saw it, they were all three kicked off the team...no questions asked.

Maybe this gets swept, or maybe it's just not a big deal long-term. Too early to tell.

I'm pretty close with several MC FB coaches & players. I probably know your son. It seems MC football program is starting to crumble from within even faster than the UT football program.

Tuttle 308 lbs
Warrior 194 lbs
Hmmmm.....

Larry, I would wonder if Tuttle's family is involved in any way. If a kid fractured my kid's eye socket with a helmet(alleged), I would be heavily involved, especially considering he had already missed a year of football because of a cheap shot from another player. This isn't just a school yard scuffle. This is felony assault. An injury like that can affect everything from vision to brain function. I have to believe there is more than "boys will be boys" going on behind the scenes. I hope I'm wrong and the damage is minor. Thoughts?

Wonder what his eye looks like.
Surprised that Facebook or someplace hasn't leaked a picture of his eye.

Oh for sure. I was under the assumption that Warrior hit him in the face with a helmet. That is a completely different situation than it being a simple fight. When you use a weapon to break somebody's eye socket, the law becomes a factor, whether you choose or not. Sorry that my post sounded dramatic. Wasn't my intention.

It's all good and I agree with you about using a helmet for a weapon. That takes it to another level..

I once threatened my own teammate with a helmet. BUT, he was leading a group of about 4 or 5 guys and said if I didn't get my head shaved like him and the rest of his minions they were going to grab me, hold me down and 'cut' my hair for me.. I picked up my helmet and told him your boys might do it but he wouldn't because he would be the first one to eat my helmet.. Another guy stepped up and backed me up.. We never cut our hair.

You referring to E-Willy?

That's part of it. Best player on the team kicked off & now no longer enrolled in school. Several others being suspended. Coaches leaving in the middle of the season. The player spreadsheet the coaches made didn't sit well either.

I don't know about all of it, but I've got to say I've been real pleased for my freshman. Coach Hayes has been good to his word on everything I've seen.

I don't know if you know E-Willy, and I don't want to offend if you do. I would have benched him after the first scuffle three weeks ago, not to mention the repeated 15 yard penalties he's cost the team in EVERY game this season. He's super talented, and will be hard to replace, but he was an issue that had to be addressed somehow. I'm not the HC, and don't know all the details, so I'll leave it to him.

for popping off about the secondary, then I support Warrior. The DL as a group have ZERO room to smart off about anyone else's play. That group is a collection of 5 star busts.....Tuttle might be a player if he could stay healthy but it appears he's the most fragile DL to ever play at Tennessee.

"Oh they got 7 sacks last week vs UMass" (probably the worst OL group to ever play in Neyland). They don't show up vs SEC teams. Make some plays yourself before you pop off again.

Are the thread title and your first sentence necessary?

Your criticism about our secondary is valid, but for the love of god quit contributing to this rumor BS. You don't know what happened, no one does outside of Tuttle / the team; don't take sides on something we aren't even sure is real.

I hardly think Turtle is fragile. He got a dirty hit in the Georgia game that caused all this. It's not like he's Greg Odom.

Tuttle was a beast vs Florida and DL played well so not sure what you mean here. Entire defense played well outside of Jumper late and Abernathy mistake. Tuttle is critical to UGA game to help stop that run game.

How do you land on a helmet? Would show a total lack of coordination if you walked into one. If you fell I guess it's possible but would be a total fluke accident. Someone banging you with a helmet would be more likely although Jones said that did not happen so I will take him at his word.

A new thread for this same worn out topic?

This thread was here long before the press conference yesterday. The information on this issue had been out since last week. Hard to hide a 320 lb starting DT with his eye swollen shut, on a campus of nearly 30k people.

IF a player on the team took out my best defensive player... he DAMN SURE would be gone for a while. Dont believe Warrior did it and has gone without consequences. If that is the way Butch runs his show... I I wouldn't want to play for him either.

Wouldn't that depend somewhat on who started the fight and what it was about? Supposedly ST is a joker. Maybe he carried something too far and Warrior reacted. Maybe the damage was a "fluke".

One of the reasons not to lie about his availability is that someone will report the raw truth eventually if the injury causes ST to lose playing time.
