Sad State of Affairs with UT football program if true

If we get 60 hung on us Saturday, and the offense is still ineffective... go the JG for good. At least he IS a threat to run on the read option. Dormady is not. And yes Georgia is gonna remember last year and they will have a chip on their shoulder.

He wont be a threat long once folks realize he isnt a threat to pass...or hand off...or get the snap count correct...

Then I guess the money guys are cheap? My understandin from other posts is at least two boosters are billionaires. I got to think they could bank roll a change in staff and take the financial pressure off if there actually is any on the athletics department.

Folks always know how other folks should spend their money.

I think they'll make a run at Brent Venables. Currie will use Snyder to help him commit. Would be a steal if so.

I know people hate him but Kiffin was the big time hire the year we got him. We fired Fulmer early to make sure we got him. I think ultimately he is going to be proven to be a good coach but he wasn't ready for Tennessee or USC. I won't be surprised to see him at a power 5 school soon. Just because he jilted us doesn't take away that we did go after the big name.

Has he been a good head coach anywhere? No. There is no evidence he can run a program.

Given our history, tradition, and hunger for winning among this fan base, it is almost criminal what we have had to deal with the past 10 years.

You want to talk about a sad state of affairs?

Last year we were beaten by Vanderbilt on their home field and the goal posts didn't come down.

Mull that over for a while. Almost surreal, isn't it?

After beating us for two years in a row - 2012, 2013 - I suppose they have come to expect it.

That is totally unacceptable.

I read LWS's post. It is what the OP had in red in reference to some 'big name' coaches..

Larry is CORRECT. It only changes when the UT admin gets off their arses and makes a real commitment to fielding a championship caliber program (like Bama and Clemson). Until that happens they might as well just keep Butch. That's better than going thru another cycle of bargain basement, mid major, diamond in the rough coach only to be right back in the same situation 4-5 years later..

FTR, I agree UT's administration seems lackluster at best in their commitment to excellence in athletics.

That said, what has Clemson done, in terms of commitment, that we haven't?

Their football facilities have a slide, a put-put course and a bowling alley.

Lol. I'm just messin around. All that stuff seems a bit much. I mean, how much is anyone really going to use the put-put course? Meh.

Lol man that slide is corny

Ii would love it if they would make a run at Dabo. he is 4.4 million and I say go for 6 or 7 million for him.. In over 50 years I have not seen them run at a big name successful head coach that was not from Tennessee. Please do something different.. I just don't think they will.

I'd bet money he will be Bama's coach when Saban retires.

Edit: Saw you already responded to this comment, but we all agree here.

The biggest problem IMO regarding leadership or lack there of on this team is CBJ wants all the players to like him, rather than respect him. There is a HUGE difference!

Yeah Currie is going to KState during the Vols off week and staying with the Snyder family, discuss this and sip hot cider in front of the fireplace on Sat night

Dabo's new contract pays him about 6.75 million a year.

I understand he may have some jitters. And a lot of folks say he doesn't look ready. I hope we win Saturday and keep the streak alive, but if we don't and Dormady doesn't look good, then we have to start looking to the future. There is no use getting Kelly killed on every play if your not gonna keep it and run with it when the need arises. It becomes a tackle drill instead of a read option.....

They didn't with Fulmer or Dooley...the AD had to pay those guys for years until the buyouts were paid off...

The money guys donate a lot to the program...if they want a change they generally threaten to reduce their donations...

The original point of the post was in response to someone who thought the UT AD generated millions in profit...they confused gross revenue with profit...

If there is a coaching search at the end of the season, bringing Fulmer in this year was likely a mistake IMO.

No high level coach is going to want him looking over their shoulder and would demand full control over the program.

Why would fulmer being in the program be a mistake? The man loves UT and is one of the best coaches in program history. I would think if someone was serious about UT football then that would be a welcomed part of the job. Just my two cents

If Tennessee doesnt make a run at him Bama will when Saban retires.

No coach in their right mind would follow Saben at Bama. Who could possibly make them happy. Bama will get an old coach near retirement or an unproven coach.

Or an idiot

When Saben retires, Bama will most likely hire Sweeny or one of their coordinators (As long as there was one with some good tenure).
