Am I surprised by the response of southern men to this? Ha, not in the least. The fact is, our police are poorly trained and our philosophy of policing is antiquated--but the rednecks do like it. Any goober can pull out his gun and shoot somebody--you don't need much training to do that. It's like Jerry Brown just said of Trump supporters--"cave dwellers."
There have been many cases where tasers have been ineffective especially on a "mentally deranged" subject.
For the people saying they should've shot this person in the leg. If you feel the need to pull your gun there is only one objective. Hell you're even taught that when you get your carry permit.

Looks like Chicago may be getting some more "public servants."
When i see articles like this, i wonder why they make the cops out to be the bad guys when its politicians that push it.
That's all I've been saying for a while. They swear an oath to uphold the Constitution.Nobody is forced against their will to be a police officer. And if police as a group refused to enforce unjust laws, politicians would be utterly powerless.
This should be where their union steps in. WTF have a union if not for reasons like this? Can't risk that paycheck and pension, though.
Roland G. Fryer Jr. is an economics professor at Harvard. Distressed by what he was seeing in the treatment of black men like Michael Brown and Freddie Gray, Fryer commissioned a study on how the role race play in the use of lethal force by police.
The study examined more than 1,000 police shootings from 10 large police departments in California, Florida and Texas.
The results? Not what Black Lives Matter would have you believe. The study found no indication of racial bias associated with incidents in which cops fired their guns.
The study concluded that police officers who had not been attacked were more likely to shoot white suspects. This goes completly against the mythology.
Fryers conclusions arent the only ones challenging the racist cop narrative. The Washington Post studied shooting deaths by law enforcement officials in 2015. 494 white suspects were killed. That number is almost double the number of black suspects killed: 258.
And with that, the nation logged what was probably its final police shooting death of 2015, a year in which 986 such killings occurred, well more than double the average number reported annually by the FBI over the past decade.
I think you missed the big point in all of this... of this entire thread(s). Forget what the clowns in Soros' funded BLM says. In this thread, we have consistently been saying that cops in this country use lethal force far too often, period.
From your link:
Final tally: Police shot and killed 986 people in 2015
Or I was just posting said link to disprove the whole "cops are racist and just shoot people of color" ignorance. You
I honestly think there's a legal issue in that scenario. If lethal force (and shooting someone anywhere is considered lethal force) is used you have to be able to justify said use. If you say you were only shooting to "wound" then how do you justify you were necessarily in imminent fear of severe bodily harm or death? (and BTW people have and will again die from GSW's to the leg)
Maybe LG can comment but I think there could be severe legal penalties regarding justification for use of lethal force with "intent to wound".
