I'm not sure it's accurate to say NOBODY believes in Butch Jones based on the point spread. 74% of the money line bets are on Tennessee winning the game outright and 62% of spread wagers believe we'll cover the spread. I don't want to imply you are guilty of projection but the people putting money down don't appear to agree with your proclamation.

The ONLY thing that gives me pause about the line (and I picked Tennessee) is that this kinda feels like one of those spreads where Vegas is begging you to go a certain way. I'm chalking it up as a miscalibration on Florida due to the limited information in conjunction with preseason expectations, though.

He comes across a little strong ... but I can't argue with the sentiment. This is a big game for Butch.

Florida:

  • Will be missing 10 players, including the best RB and WR
  • Has an unresolved QB situation that's bad (even for FL)
  • Looked horrible on offense against a flawed Michigan team
  • Missed practice time because of a hurricane

Linesmakers so distrust Jones that STILL have FL as a 5 point favorite. UT is already 0-2 versus the spread this year.

There is pressure on him to win this game. It's not just VolNation and meaningless fans like us.

I am not so sure that they missed practice time. VQ reported that McElwain was very coy about it in his PC, but the they confirmed that UF practiced parts of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I think that can be taken out. Just like Butch, these other coaches don't let on to certain things.

We are also missing our starting WR, OTand MLB for this game. No excuses for them.

I called this earlier in week. Weather was beautiful every day except Sunday from 1pm to Monday morning. I live in Sarasota and we suffered worse winds and rain. I was outside 8am Monday morning taking shutters down. Friday, Saturday and Monday were beautiful weather days.

Have 8 of the 10 suspended Gator players ever seen the field? Perhaps this is why the so called experts like them. They felt coming into the season that Florida was loaded offensively. They also felt their defense is on par.

Only Gator writers and fans seem more objective and less high on their team.

True statement.

Look, I desperately want Butch to succeed. I don't want to start over. My point was there's a lot of validity to D4H's argument. This is a big game for Butch.

He's made progress but we need to take the next step. Maybe this is the game.

Calloway is the only real loss.

CBJ made two replacements that should have helped or are supposed to help the edge issue (hired Shoop and Warren). You can't say that changes haven't been made to make the team better coached. The same goes for the OL. He also made an OC change that will hopefully utilize playmakers better. So, again, the changes have been made. Time will tell if the changes were made too late.

Personally, I think one more problem remains - Thigpen. Not recruiting at an elite level, and he hasn't coached at an elite level.

Overall, I think your points are valid.

On Volnation we want our changes to be made retroactively. We don't have time to wait to see if they actually work or not.

I'm not sure how much of a loss he is. I know Calloway is a big loss for them.

I don’t think he’s up to Calloway level of loss, but he did rush for like 900 yards or something like that last year. UF media was hyping him up to be an “elite” RB in the nation.

Scarlett is solid. Callaway is a playmaker and probably the best in the SEC. He was literally their only true offensive threat the past 2 years.

Didn't they just lose a starting LB as well?

edit - Kylan Johnson, starting strongside linebacker out due to lingering injury

I'm not expecting TKJr. to be available tomorrow. Not only is Nigel Warrior taking over his position, but it seems he has flared up an old injury. I hope Nigel just destroy's some folks tomorrow.

Losing your best RB is always a blow

Yeah I get that I just don't think that's a huge factor in this game. Maybe it's because I jut get the feeling that this game will come down to big plays if Florida wins and I don't think he's a threat to do that.

Without question Calloway and Scarlett are the two biggest losses. Calloway is the only one that scares me though. Glad he is out.

Nigel took Abernathys spot this spring. Then Abernathy took Kelly's spot this fall. Kelly and Abernathy been rotating though. VQ Theo Jackson comments would line up with your info
