Most coaches don't feel confident in playing a guy who has not prepped at all for an upcoming game. It's not common practice

Do you really think that Butch would not play JK if he did not practice all week but was able to play in the game?

This is the most hilarious thing on the plant. You almost lose the opener to hide a defense right?

It's a premise that goes back to the Fulmer years to rationalize why a unit doesn't look good in the games leading up to Florida. I think we will win the game, but it won't be because we've been "hiding" anything previously.

It's not just that he hasn't practiced. He's been apart from all team activities. That means film prep, any new plays installed since the UM game, team meetings, etc.

I think he'd play if reinstated (and JK probably would in a similar situation), but the amount they'd be able to contribute would definitely be hampered by missing ~2 weeks of practice and team activities.

In their defense, it's exactly what happened last year. Sleep walk weeks 1 and 2, curb stomp Florida.

But if the other team is also offering 4 million dollars a year, but their inbred vocal minority of haters who call for your head after a come from behind win is much smaller, which do you choose? Exactly.

Ah, the semi annual "fans' social media posts have soooo much influence over whether or not coaches and/or recruits will come here" argument.

Tennessee fans are miserable. I am cheering so hard for this team AND the coaches to shut most of you up Saturday. It's sad when you have to shut your own fans up before you shut the outside fan bases up.

It's exhausting. And embarrassing. We NEED a W this weekend. Preferably a blowout dominating W.

Do you really believe that our defense will not stunt or blitz against Florida? Maybe we were "hiding" some plays, maybe the coaches just thought it was best not to run those against Tech. Either way the result is the same - we see what we really are Saturday.

Tell me if I'm reading this right, the first set of columns of numbers are the moneyline bets, the second set of columns are the bets against the spread, and the 3rd set of columns is the over/under. (1st column within the sets of columns is the home team, 2nd column is the away team).

So I read this as 70% of people placing bets think we will win the game outright, 64% think we'll cover the spread, and 99% of the wagers think Butch will let off the gas once we get up 48-0?

Sadly I think some of them really do. Others prefer the Eyeore way of life. I truly think our defense has lots to improve on but we don't know what they can truly do yet. We have a really good set of defensive coaches and a lot of talent on that side of the ball. They will be better than what we have seen so far. I habe no doubt of that.

Our media and idiot fanbase without a doubt has a negative effect on the program.

Always funny to me to see fans defend the Houston Kress types and vol Twitter loons.

Bad thing is, he's doing a good job. We were **** before he got here. We could be stuck with mcelwain or smart. Laugh all u want about records but we are trending upwards

Yeah, I'd hate to be stuck with those bum coaches.

Jim McElwain: 19-9 at Florida, 13-3 in conference, two SEC East titles in two tries.

Kirby Smart: 10-5 at Georgia, 4-4 in conference, best collection of young talent in the league besides Alabama.

Butch Jones: 32-21 at Tennessee, 14-18 in conference. 0 SEC East titles in 5 tries.

No it doesn't. You just don't spend enough time on every other fanbase's social media or listening to rival radio shows to realize we're no different. It has 0 effect on the program. Outside of Bama, including OSU, every fanbase has a vocal negative minority that say all the same things you think are unique to UT.

I'm positive we will. That's not what I posted. I think it is your former premise- it was just the game plan for GT- that was a bit of a whiff- and not some double secret covert hiding of plays to ambush Florida.

He's got elite talent developing behind them

Wrong. Our fanbase has a much larger social media presence. Always has. And we are a starved fanbase. What was once a positive back in 2013-14 has now become a huge negative. The coverage of our program is much different than others.

I get what you are saying and I would have agreed with you during the Dooley era. But the way our negative fanbase has shaped the way we are covered by our own media and in turn it has changed the way we are portrayed and perceived in the national scene.
