I'm sorry, what was I arguing here?

Oh, were you making jokes? I really couldn't tell. I thought you were doing the typical negaVol "I have no argument that makes sense to give so I'll just argue the semantics and syntax of his statements". If you support Coach Jones, I'll be on your side bud. I've just seen you be unnecessarily argumentative before and if you're responding to my posts that are trying to show support for our coach, and just trying to get them off topic with your zany responses, I'll put you on ignore so it doesn't happen again.

Or, Butch could just use some common sense and not say stupid things. I really like Butch, but he doesn't do himself any favors. I don't care what he says, but he has to know by now that comments like those piss of the angry masses. Do I agree with it? No. Our fans are way too brutal on Butch. However, Butch could avoid a lot of this stuff by simply not saying certain things. You can be mad at the negas, but understand Jones is part of the problem as well.

Only person I see pissed off is Chief, and he's just a troll, but you're defending him.

We HAD a coach that won the press conferences. He sucked. I'll take Butch-isms all day given the results. He's the best we've had in 10+ years.

Bingo. Press conferences don't mean anything and yet fans want coaches to be both Spurrier and Saban at the podium simultaneously.

Alright you morans, answer the question. Do we see trick plays on offense this year or not? :)

Alright you morans, answer the question. Do we see trick plays on offense this year or not? :)

You mean this week? I think we will as long as two things don't happen:

1. It isn't overly rainy/sloppy. Pretty much all the trick plays we've seen under Butch include a pass of some sort. If it's pouring down rain, they may decide not to risk it. Turnovers will be key in this game.

2. We aren't overly dominant on offense. If we're able to pretty much have our way with them right out of the gate, I don't think the coaches open the playbook open too much.

If it is rainy, I kinda have a feeling we might see a little wildcat here and there. We've run some version of the wildcat at some point pretty much every season. Hurd was the WC QB early in 2014 before Dobbs took over at QB. JJ ran a little wildcat the past two seasons at times.

A couple plays with JK/Chandler and maybe a slot like Byrd/Williams in motion might force a defense into makig some tough choices.

I can see we aren't going to agree. It's easy to internalize these things instead of saying them aloud. If you go into surgery and the surgeon says "well, this is the first time I have had this surgical crew work together on this case," how confident would you feel about the surgery? It's fine to worry about stuff like that, but you don't verbalize it to your audience. It's really just common sense if you ask me.

I was going to say you were grossly overdramatizing, but the reality is you are right, Butch should have internalized that. As a matter of fact he should probably stop holding pressers altogether because it is painfully obvious a section of our fanbase become completely unhinged every time the man talks. You would think from all the lunacy the team was 0-2 right now.

Raymond, you look constipated.

Do we have another converted QB on the roster other than JJ? I can't remember for sure. I hate the wildcat unless he is a legit threat to throw the ball. I liked some of those little trick plays Debord slipped last couple of seasons with JJ throwing to Dobbs. Hope Scott he a few good tricks as well.

Most of our tricks involved taking advantage of Jennings' ability to line up at QB or toss it from his position. Now I do remember Marlin Lane making us all go 'wtf' when he tossed one during a bowl game so I suppose there's someone on the team that could fill in. Really tho, maybe we try a reverse but I just don't know with all the new faces on offense.

Risky. They're rallying around that "Play For Florida" mantra. If we get down by two scores and the crowd whips into a frenzy and lights a fire under the players, it'll be cardiac time again. There should be a rule that we can't have two cardiac events within a two-week period. The heart muscle needs time to heal.

Agree, but that's how Butch allows the play calling

A little patience is needed to see if he can take that next step. It's a hard jump to make

Butch loves the RB jump pass to the TE on third and short so I expect that will show up at least once. I forget who, but a skills player was reported as doing passing drills this summer so I imagine there will be a reverse pass of some kind. Not to mention Larry Scott has been anticipating running this offense for a few months and I'm sure has some tricks up his sleeves that aren't worth using on GT or the Larry Birds. The past three years have seen trick plays come against Florida so I anticipate there being at least one this week.

JJ's the only converted QB, I think (at least on offense...Theo Jackson was a HS QB). But Hurd couldn't throw the ball and he ran the wildcat in 2014 at times when we were trying to get things moving downhill a bit (we weren't very good rushing the ball until Dobbs took over that year). I figure JK would be the guy they'd trust if they used a wildcat look.

Idk if they'll actually use it or not this year. I just kinda figured we might see it a bit at some point since our RB talent is good this year, our QB isn't much of a run threat, and we've seen it 4/5 years Butch was here at one point or another.

fyp. Is lining up over the ball at the line of scrimmage and playing press coverage considered a trick play?

It is when you're trying to not give away your real defense that you'll use against Florida. Guarantee the playbook opens up on both offense and defense this Saturday

Tennessee fans are miserable. I am cheering so hard for this team AND the coaches to shut most of you up Saturday. It's sad when you have to shut your own fans up before you shut the outside fan bases up.

We need a "roast the negavols" thread when we win this game. Just an open thread where we copy in the dumbest negavol posts of the week for a good post game chuckle!
