He inherited a well-stocked, Saban led, national championship team, and Saban had not yet built his juggernaught at Bama. I think Butch could match Les in that situation.
He was Larry Coker. Are you arguing otherwise?
He could have. What has Butch done here besides recruit on an elite level, as did Les, to make you think that though? I'd like to think Butch could have but he just hasn't proven to this point that he's on that level.
Les recruited at a high level with in state talent at a high level. And even lost many in state, Louisiana, players to Saban. If we're talking recruiting.
He never out coached a sole and had the most players taken in the NFL draft through his years. And still lost 13-10 every damn big game. Stop.
This is such an overrated view. They're so many examples of great coaches being replaced and the ship quickly sinking.
Lloyd Carr - rich rod
Pete carrol - kiffin.
Meyer - muschamp
Mack brown - Charlie strong
The right guy has to take over or in no time things go south.

You guys are acting like les miles was a wooden Indian on the sidelines.
I'm arguing that Les Miles was a very good football coach. You don't win a national title, play for another, and win two SEC championships without being a top level coach. Doesn't happen by happenstance. Everybody on this board craps all over every coach out there besides Saban. People nitpick Urban, they think Kirby and McElwain are garbage, so on and so forth. But if someone speaks negatively of Butch it's unacceptable.
