I think that's a fair point. I do think there is some coach out there with enough confidence to take on Saban though. Honestly, if a coach comes here and doesn't beat Bama, oh well, not many have. No one will think less of you if you are still doing well outside of those games. If you do beat Saban and prove you can take him down from time to time then you now will be praised/paid for it. Could you imagine the media love for a coach that comes into the SEC and beats Saban twice in one year? That coach is getting moved into the elite category quickly. High risk/reward scenario for a coach with enough confidence that wants to come.
Now, all of that doesn't matter either because Butch about win the East this year.
Gruden ain't scared of saban.....I'm standing by my earlier statement. As long as Saban is rolling, no top coach in the country is going to sign up to coach a team that has to go through him twice every year. No smart up and comer would sign up for that either. Roll with Butch as long as he keeps the program in a good spot, gets us to Atlanta every so often, and has us in 2nd place when we don't go to Atlanta. We probably won't get anyone better than that while Saban is at Bama.
Florida hired defensive coordinator Will Muschamp followed by Jim McElwain. Georgia just hired a coordinator. South Carolina just hired Will Muschamp who had been fired. LSU just hired a fired head coach who has an NCAA bullseye on his back.
That should give you guys an idea about hiring big name, elite (or whatever term you wanna use) coaches.
Coaching search talk while we are 2-0 and it is Florida week. How miserable can we get?
No one will think less of you, but you're basically having to beat Saban twice just to get to the playoff. No other school has to do that, and every top coach wants to get to the playoff. A coach capable of doing that would have options to go to other schools where he wouldn't have to do that.
Find the coach that has enough bravado that want's to go up against Saban yearly. Beat the best and become the best. There are coaches out there that want this. The hard part is finding out who could back up that confidence with great coaching.
We punted early from a bad check into a running play on 3rd and 4-5. Us punting against a name your score team is hilarious. The second half we started off like garbage on offense turning the all over and all. Should've dropped 70 on that team. And it shouldn't have been hard. WR screens would've went for TDs Saturday.
